I had a visit from this feathery boy. Or maybe she's girl. Just sat patiently while I got very close for the photo. I suspect that they were waiting for a snack. Lots of people in my street like to feed the birds. But I had nothing suitable and there was no way I was sharing my hot buttered raisin toast. #Birds #Wildlife

First sighting of a Painted Turtle this year. He was very shy and dropped right back into the water that is still not completely free of ice. #Turtle #wildlife #spring

Governments failed to deliver $160m of river improvements including for now-parched NSW wetlands, report finds “Quite simply the environment is the loser along with the taxpayer...The failure to implement what was promised means that turtles, fish and wetlands die.” The Greens environment spokesperson, Sarah Hanson-Young, said the report “makes it abundantly clear that despite millions of dollars being splashed around, it has not gone to protecting the river”. >> https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2026/apr/23/governments-failed-to-deliver-160m-of-river-improvements-including-for-now-parched-nsw-wetlands-report-finds #water #wetlands #failure #MDB #biodiversity #wildlife #EnvironmentalFlows #ecosystems #rivers #NSW #RAMSAR #governance

Mother fox with three cubs, venturing out of their den and into my back garden People rarely use our large shared garden, so the foxes feel safe out there and often bring cubs to explore and play #fox #animals #nature #wildlife

🦦🍫 Giant #otter triplets born at #Chester Zoo weigh about 200 grams each at birth. These offspring of first-time parents Bonita and Manu belong to the largest otter species on Earth. The pups will eventually reach 2 meters in length and weigh more than 30 kg. 👉 https://www.popsci.com/environment/new-otter-babies/ #otters #wildlife #conservation #biology #nature #animals #zoology #chesterzoo #science #ecosystem #mammals

(1) In 2016, a dog fell into a reservoir in #Almaty and could not escape the steep concrete walls and strong current. A man tried to help but was unable to reach it on his own. Seeing this, several strangers stepped in and formed a human chain, reaching down into the rushing water and saving both the dog and the man... @pax0707@mastodon.social We have several feral cats around the house and one that would move into the house in a heartbeat (Bruno). Still when they see me coming they all come running, its food time :D. These two are Bruno & Poppy. She is semi-feral but when food is served nothing else matters. #CatsOfMastodon #cats #wildlife

Roosevelt elk (Cervus elaphus roosevelti), also known as wapiti, one of the largest mammals on Vancouver Island. I photographed it in the fall. He was looking at its harem. Very protective. Those wapitis are wild, not habituated to people, so it takes time and patience to locate them and then photograph them while keeping a respectful distance. #photography #wildlife #nature #VancouverIslandWildlife #VancouverIsland #BritishColumbia #Canada #WildlifeWednesday

Treetop Flare This isn’t a great image, and the composition is a little clumsy, but it captures something rare for me — a male summer tanager (Piranga rubra) flittering through a treetop. @HopelessDemigod@mstdn.social I mean, allegedly #Celtel in #Tanzania did GSM-450 alongside T-GSM 410, but aside from that ony few applications use lower UHF & VHF bands, Including #TETRA²… Personally, I wish for it to be used for #narrowband #ISM³ applications that could use said new band, like #Wildlife #Trackers or similar…My guess is #NbIoT / #5G & rural #broadband (#BFWA) with PtMP systems…
