Treetop Flare This isn’t a great image, and the composition is a little clumsy, but it captures something rare for me — a male summer tanager (Piranga rubra) flittering through a treetop. Eye level foraging, instead of in its usual neck-ache-inducing leafy realm, gave us some nice views of this Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher. #birds #birding #marsh #spring #nature #NaturePhotography #SolaceInNature

Sometimes you find yourself standing in a woodland pleading with a tiny bird to come out of hiding for just a few seconds Some not-so-good views of the Iberian Chiffchaff yesterday, it certainly liked to hop about a lot! #Bird #Birding #Nature #Wildlife #Photography #NaturePhotography #WildlifePhotography #BirdPhotography #UKWildlife #Darktable #BirdsOfMastodon #BirdScolling #UK #Suffolk #IberianChiffchaff #Bloopers

Joy Mastodon delighted in some #birding today, and saw some mergansers, mallards, and Canada geese. #plushtodon https://shop.joinmastodon.org/products/mastodon-plushie

On Sunday we visited our local RSPB site, Strumpshaw Fen. Becky spotted a leucistic male Pheasant! We’d never seen one before, it was roaming in the horse paddocks next to the site. #Bird #Birding #Nature #Wildlife #Photography #NaturePhotography #WildlifePhotography #BirdPhotography #UKWildlife #Darktable #BirdsOfMastodon #BirdScrolling #UK #Norfolk #Strumpshaw #RSPB #Pheasant #Leucism

I guess this is a productive use of my daylight hours during retirement. I don’t use a blind generally, just photograph if I’m presented an opportunity while ambling. The Eastern Towhee was semi-cooperative. The Sharp-shinned Hawk—let’s just say this is the best photo of a Shinnie that I’ve ever taken. 46 bird species on today’s amble: https://ebird.org/checklist/S322156284 #eBird #birding #BirdWatching #BadBirdPhotos #nature #OptOutside #birds #SpringMigration #spring

Checking in on the youngest local Tawny Frogmouth. Haven't seen the parents around as much lately as would be normal but hopefully the kid getting nicely chonky is a sign they're still both around and involved. #birds #birding #TawnyFrogmouth #wildlife #wildoz

Jay on the Move The easiest way to catch a bird on the move is to already be snapping pictures when it leaves a known perch. Like this blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata) leaping from a swing‑shaped feeder with a whole peanut in its beak. Honestly, it might have two. If you're enchanted by images of blue jays and other captivating corvids, dive into my photo gallery for a visual treat! Ahem ... A male red‑bellied woodpecker stands perched atop a female, his wings lifted in a wide, dramatic spread that suggests either a protective stance or a courtship display. The pair balance together on a slender tree limb, their sharply detailed plumage set against a soft, blurred backdrop of blue sky and natural color, creating a striking contrast between the crisp foreground and the gentle background. Egret in the Shallows I captured this image of a snowy egret (Egretta thula) one morning in Gulfport, Mississippi. The egret was hunting in a shallow tidal pool near the surf. Step into a world where even the smallest moments—like the glint in a bird's eye—tell their own story. https://swede1952-photographs.pixels.com #photo #photography #photographer #photographylovers #wildlife #nature #bird #birds #birding #birdwatching #birdphotography #heron #egret #snowyegret

Good Morning ⛅ from Germany. It's finally nest building time again! This little blue tit was very keen to test the quality of our reeds. 🥰 Have a beautiful Easter 🐇 Monday full of

Sunbeam at the Feeder “Most of the American goldfinches (Spinus tristis) have already migrated north, but I spotted this little male yesterday still hanging around. Maybe he’s staying for the buffet. Skyward Bound This tufted titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor), its small crest lifted like a banner, grips the edge of the bird feeder as it pushes off into the air with a sunflower seed clenched firmly in its beak. A warm wash of rufous coloring shows along its flanks and lower back, standing out against the soft gray of its wings and head. Tufted titmice are a favorite among a select group of bird enthusiasts. To celebrate these charming creatures, I’ve curated a special collection dedicated entirely to them in my photo gallery. The Bold Eagle The stance of this little chipping sparrow (Spizella passerina) gives the delightful impression of a tiny bird trying its best to imitate an eagle—chest lifted, posture proud, and attitude far larger than its size. If you enjoy photos of birds and other wildlife, take a look at my photo gallery. Sparrows are never overlooked—they're a valued and important part of my collection. Saw the swallows today for the first time this year. They were doing they're usual acrobatics all over the big marsh/field at the park. Happy sight! 🥰 #pnw #birding
