@yura@udongein.xyz Any decent repair shop won't ask for a PIN and any who does should be seennas a red flag! Like NOONE does this unless they want to exfil your data.Also this is out-of-scope because one could remote-wipe any device (or should've backed-up & wiped it before repair!) as is any other scenario where a user provides access to others!Regardless if you use @delta@chaos.social / #deltaChat or @monocles@monocles.social / #monoclesChat or even #Signal!

I've long been fascinated by the #mesh network #reticulum & the #LXMF messaging protocol built atop it—especially for areas w/o reliable Internet, or where govt. blackouts occur. I strongly believe bridges from LXMF to the open social web & open messaging protocols like #DeltaChat are strategic. I'd love to connect with others sharing similar thoughts. Any proper #App like #monoclesChat & #DeltaChat can control if, when, where and what #Notifications it spits out…Personally I don't trust #Signal cuz they not only fall under #CloudAct but also locked-in on #aws…

In the past they use bots called channel guard (around 30 years ago, before they implement it on server side). Those bots is just like ordinary user. They knows who are channel founder/admin and actively auto kick someone who kicks channel founder/admin and reinvite kicked founder/admin. It can be implemented in #deltachat groups without any changes on protocol or MTAs. Not even client app need to be modified. Just invite the bot to your group and configured it. So, anybody wants to code that kind of bot?

Making sure that deleted messages are actually deleted and unrecoverable is more involved than most folks think. The FBI could recently recover deleted Signal messages from an iOS phone because the notifications you see on your phone were stored in an extra database. Apple has now fixed this, also making #deltachat iOS users safer. #deltachat user profiles are private and invisible to the public. No one can discover you, or your children, via phone numbers or any other public handle. Chat profiles exist only on user devices. No PIN and no "SMS verification code" ever asked or needed. The lack of "public discovery" also means you don't auto-discover others via phone numbers or other public handles. Getting in contact with others is "opt in": you scan a QR code or click an invite link to join a group or open a chat.

Same goes for anything else: Regardless if #XMPP+#OMEMOIf say 5222.de is down the only ones noticing are their users and their contacts.Or #PGP/MIME.And that is it's strenght. In fact #eMail is so powerful that @delta@chaos.social / #deltaChat is getting popular in #Russia because even if they wanted to, (they don't, obviously!) they couldn't comply with #Roskomnadnozr's #Cyberfascism!

Aber zumindest einen Teil der Metadaten (Absender- und Empfängermailadresse) musst du ja mit allen an der Mailkette beteiligten Servern teilen. Da kann man glaube ich nicht so viel drehen. Oder nutzt #DeltaChat da einen cleveren Trick?

"Popularity is overrated" is an often occuring phrase in our circles. Which is of course nonsense because only what is popular, counts, right? Only what everybody else does is a valid choice, right? #deltachat #chatmail and #webxdc are used in private places and communities that people are molding for themselves. We are just providing tools and approaches that work ... At least most of the time 😅 "Nothing works all the time" is another project mantra. Brb preparing the next releases :)

@Realist@social.tchncs.de Es gibt broadcast channel, aber nur noch verschlüsselt. Dh dass die Empfangsseite auch Delta Chat oder einen der https://chatmail.at/clients braucht. Das onboarden gelingt in vielen Kreisen recht problemlos mittlerweile, wenn man vergisst, dass das Email system benutzt wird :) Als "email-listen-verwaltung" für das Versenden von Klartextmails ist #deltachat hingegen nicht mehr gedacht. Da sind dann eher klassive email programme zu empfehlen, die nicht auf Verschlüsselung fokussieren.

@arcanechat@fosstodon.org becareful when you state about groups on #deltachat. Because there is no concept of group owner/admin on deltachat at the moment. Everyone can kick everyone (PS: I'm a deltachat user, but we are agree not to use deltachat for public group). @GerhardD@olching.social
