@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social off-grid, low-power, long-range, radio communication, is popular again. #LoRa #Meshtastic #Meshcore #Reticulum

@sandorspruit@mastodon.nl correct! But I failed to message with @leonieke@squilla.vitaulium.eu who is 1000km away. My friend @stereo@freiburg.social suggested looking into #Reticulum - so down another rabbit hole I go 😂🤗 @hikingdude@mastodon.social @HowardGees@mastodonapp.uk

Mark Qvist built #Reticulum, an open mesh protocol some call "the next internet." It ran on nearly any network, even the most meager, for free. Then he vanished. The dev community took over, and ran with it. Great story here: 🔗 https://nodestar.net/mark-qvist

#LXMF deserves to be treated as a first-class consumer messaging protocol. Let's build it the phone it deserves. https://nodestar.net/lxmf-phone #reticulum #Internet #foss #technology

@perlman@indieweb.social folks seriously. What are the benefits of “new” unproven #reticulum over proven alternatives?

Reticulum link protocols over slip, ppp, Ethernet or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.15.4

Please compare Reticulum with standards, not with toys.

@marsik@witter.cz @perlman@indieweb.social Dude, you’re clearly a very smart person, and I always discover something new and interesting in every post you make on #reticulum. BUT why are you fighting so hard against reticulum? At least, that’s how it seems to me.

@perlman@indieweb.social Ok, to show I am not just talking either, here is a #reticulum protocol analysis with focus on #privacy Including comparison to other projects. The TLDR is: #RNS is reasonably good hiding identity from services, but leaks metadata on network level. https://codeberg.org/MarSik/reticulum-audit/src/branch/main/reticulum-source-privacy-flaw.md I tried to back up all my claims and reasoning with links and sources. But feel free to call me out on any inaccuracy as the final text is rather long and I might have missed something. #tor #i2p can check me too.

I've long been fascinated by the #mesh network #reticulum & the #LXMF messaging protocol built atop it—especially for areas w/o reliable Internet, or where govt. blackouts occur. I strongly believe bridges from LXMF to the open social web & open messaging protocols like #DeltaChat are strategic. I'd love to connect with others sharing similar thoughts.
