Any proper #App like #monoclesChat & #DeltaChat can control if, when, where and what #Notifications it spits out…Personally I don't trust #Signal cuz they not only fall under #CloudAct but also locked-in on #aws…

I recently discovered ntfy.sh and it is brilliant in its simplicity. I am currently rewriting my bash scripts to drop AWS SNS in favor of it. Getting a direct push notification to my phone (and not only this) via a simple curl command is so much cleaner than setting up IAM roles and SNS topics. I still absolutely love email as a primary protocol, but my inbox really does not need to know every single time a cron job finishes successfully 😅 #SelfHosted #Bash #DevOps #Linux #ntfy #HomeLab #AWS #Fediverse #Linux

I was running some AWS CLI commands today and found this string in the output: "AccountCreatedDate": "2015-03-11T15:06:45Z" I completely missed the 11-year anniversary last month. Since I was born in 1995, I was only 19 when I opened this account. It is wild to realize I have been tied to Big Tech infrastructure for over a third of my life without really thinking about it. Back then, the cloud felt like the ultimate solution. But today, my main goal is to move away from it. Ich nutze aktuell 2 #Messenger. #WhatsApp und #Threema. WhatsApp, weil ich es einfach nicht schaffe die Familie davon weg zu bekommen. Zwei haben mal Threema getestet und hatten jeweils 2 Kontakte. Einer davon war ich. Ich selber habe viele Kontakte auf Threema. Mit denen, die beide Messenger haben, kommuniziere ich nur auf Threema.

Jetzt bekam ich wieder zwei Einladungen von Freunden geschickt #Signal zu nutzen. Denn dagegen wehre ich mich immernoch. Warum?

  1. Wieviele Messenger denn noch.
  2. Ein weiteres US Produkt, welches dann auch Daten an die US Regierung übermitteln wird.
  3. Signal setzt #AWS von #Amazon ein, spült also direkt Geld in die Kassen der Oligarchen

Für Datenschutz ist Signal fast gut. Für Unabhängigkeit meiner Meinung nach eine ähnliche Katastrophe wie WhatsApp.

AWS Middle East Central data centres have been attacked. This is a good reminder that the cloud is just someone else's computer. And maybe it doesn't make sense to rely on cloud providers to store your photos, backups, emails, etc, if those cloud providers are now legitimate military targets. Google Photos is now on the front lines 😬 #AWS #GCP #Azure #Gmail
