Seit etwa einem Jahr nutze ich für meine Fotos #Immich für die Sicherung vom Smartphone und Archivierung. Heute habe ich nun auch alle Fotos die noch auf Google Photos lagen gelöscht. 🥳 War ein ziemlicher Akt, ich glaube Google will gar nicht, dass man alle Fotos löscht 😂 Von 2010-2025 waren so einige.

@seymour@flipboard.social Ich habe mir auch ein NAS gekauft und das selbe mit iCloud Fotos vor. Ich werde aber auch eine Weile zweigleisig fahren und habe #immich noch nie benutzt.

If you need more examples of how awesome #Immich is: This morning I wanted to find a certain photo I took during the rain. ➡️ Opened up iPhoto and typed "Rain." It spit out a bunch of useless results (like 1800 "Rainforest" images which were basically every forest photo I've ever taken, most in clear weather) or text results for the word. ➡️ Opened Immich and typed "Rain." Tons of photos AND videos. Found what I wanted! It wasn't super accurate but it produced results! #OpenSource

Nerderei der letzten Woche: #immich Ich war auf der Suche nach einem Foto, was ich mal in den letzten 10 Jahren mit dem Handy geschossen hatte. Bisher habe ich alle Fotos ordentlich quartalsweise auf dem Gerät und dem NAS, sowie in der Cloud abgelegt und alles immer im Zugriff, aber ohne Chance dieses eine Foto schnell unter tausenden zu finden. Ich hatte zuviel Zeit und die #linux VM mit #docker war schnell aufgesetzt. Fazit: Ich bin total begeistert was das Tool alles kann. Nichts überlebenswichtiges, aber an den Geo Informationen und der Timeline habe ich ja echt Spaß. Das hat mir noch mal einen ganz neuen Blick in die Fotosammlung beschert. Darf nun weiter laufen und das #homelab hat eine #vm mehr, die gepflegt werden möchte...

Onko täällä muita #immich käyttäjiä? Immichin konteksti haku on kyllä uskomaton. Jos hakukenttään kirjoittaa vaikka ”sininen auto nurmikolla”, löytää se kuvakirjastosta kaikki kuvat, jossa näkyy sininen auto nurmikolla. Se on kyllä erittäin kätevä ja tulee käytettyä usein, kun pitää löytää joku tietty kuva, jonka muistan joskus ottaneeni. Mutta haku pitää tehdä englanniksi, jotta se toimii oikein. Onko joku löytänyt jonkun hyvän koneoppimismallin (ML model), joka toimisi myös suomeksi? Huggingfacessa on kyllä joitakin #multilingual malleja. Jotain niistä kokeilin, mutta ei sekään toiminut suomeksi sen paremmin. Eikä jaksaisi testata niitä kaikkia, kun mallin vaihtamisessa kestää päiviä, kun pitää käsitellä uudelleen kaikki kymmenet tuhannet kuvat kirjastossa. Mun kotiserverissä ei siis ole tarpeeksi potkua tällaiseen testaamiseen. Mutta jos joku muu olisi löytänyt jonkun mallin joka osaa myös suomea, niin olisin kiinnostunut kuulemaan kokemuksia ja vinkkejä. Ja jos löytyy joku takulla suomea osaava malli, niin sitten voin kyllä laittaa serverin pariksi päiväksi ruksuttamaan ja käymään läpi kuvakirjastoa uudella mallilla. #selfhosting #homelab #selfhosted #ml #machinelearning #suomi #search #haku

What is the Best way to migrate Google-Photos to Immich?

I’ve been running Immich for about 6 months now, and it’s smooth and stable.

I’ve synced my camera roll to it and loving it.

Next step is to move the ~150gb of media on Google-Photos over.

How do I best do that?

I also have some other issues I’d like to address before or after the migration:

  1. I have a bunch of crap mixed into my Google photos, old WhatsApp images from meme groups I used to be in etc.

  2. Thousands of photos of Ex girlfriends mixed in (not exactly sure what to do about these)

Is there a way to siff through these efficiently and keep what I want? I have ~20k photos some dating back to 2006 so it feels like a mountain to climb.
