When generating one sectional it gets a little odd where the sectionals overlap depending what gets drawn first. Oshkosh had its info being cut in half and for such a well known airport that is kind of silly. So I messed with shape files for a while and eventually got a cutout that I think looks good for the area. I'm starting to work on the IFR charts. Since FAA charts are non-standard there is a lot of manual work to cut out the charts and stitch them together. #godot #avgeek

I learned a thing. I'm messing around with a way of showing height of an aircraft without just reading the numbers. Lower the cognitive barrier for someone using the map. I tried drop shadows that change based on altitude but they read very poorly over the map so I'm scrapping that idea. I don't want to use color as I want high threat targets to be color coded for traffic alert info when flying. So these leaves perhaps shape / size to play with. Here is a picture of the map with drop shadows. Not great. I'm not much of a designer but I'll prototype some things and see what reads best. #godot #avgeek #aviation

Minun Godot-harjoittelut jatkuvat. Nyt vuorossa oli Super Mario -klooni. Keskityin tässä tekemään jotakuinkin ehjän kokonaisen maailman, rakentamaan liikkuvat viholliset, joilla on eri tiloja. Tässä sai myös hyvin harjoiteltua interaktioita eri objektien välillä, tilojen hallintaa ja paljon muuta. Olisihan tuohon voinut laitella lisää animaatioita, ominaisuuksia, ääniä, musiikkia ja muita yksityiskohtia, mutta oppimistavoite tuli tällä raakileellakin saavutettua. Hauskaa puuhaa! ☺️ #ohjelmointi #godot

Minun Godot-seikkailut jatkuvat Asteroids-kloonin parissa. Tässä pääsi harjoittelemaan lisää fysiikkajuttuja, asioiden spawnaamista viewportille, äänitehosteita, animaatioita, musiikkia, pelin eri tilojen hallintaa, valikoita, tyylejä sekä tiedostoon tallentamista ja sieltä lukemista. Kaikki grafiikat, äänet ja musiikit ladattu netin ilmaisista kolosista. Yllättävän nopeasti nämä peliprojektit muuttuvat varsin monimutkaiseksi spagetiksi, varsinkin kun kokemus tämän puolen ohjelmoinnista on lähes pyöreä nolla. Ei tämä opettelu kovin mukavaa ja tehokasta kipeänä ole, mutta pälli hajoaa jos makoilen koko päivän sohvalla 🤧 #ohjelmointi #godot

Added some particle effects for when you draw. I'm also still noodling on how I want to use drawing as a game mechanic. I feel like there's something fun there, but so far the thing that sticks out to me is connecting things together like electrical circuits (hence the spark particles). But is that it? Are there other things you should be able to do? Still figuring that out but at least I have one good idea so far, and it looks pretty cool too. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

Refactored the save/progress system again. Hopefully for the last time? I realized it would be necessary when I started making an actual mission in a level. Instead of developing a rigid "each mission only has these specific states and all missions must fit in that structure" I'm going with a more loosey-goosey, but *contained* structure where each level has its own data and logic scripts. That way I can have an arbitrary number of tracking variables like "has_talked_to_character_abc" or "has_done_thing_xyz". And more importantly, I can easily reference those in the dialogue scripts like in this screenshot. Main.gamestate holds the universal stuff, but Main.gamestate.data holds the individual level data which can be whatever. It might be a little convoluted, but the complexity shouldn't actually get that bad since I can contain it all within an individual level. #godot #gamedev #indiedev

Random #godot PSA for those who didn't know (like me): You can easily add timed sounds (or anything else) to an animation imported from Blender if you just enable Save to File and check Keep Custom Tracks in the import window.

Working on a mission and objective system for my 3D platformer, so it's easier to put together challenges that share common things like reaching areas, collecting a number of things, defeating a group of enemies, etc. #godot #gamedev #indiedev
