Firefox se actualizó, y al parecer "no recordó" que tenía instaladas las extensiones uBlock Origin y Sponsor Block... Es joda Mozilla? soy de los pocos que te quedan... #firefox #firefox150 #adblock #ublock

Today's #Firefox Nightly makes the profile backup feature available by default. The profile backup feature, when enabled, will take a snapshot of your profile and pack it into a single file that you can restore from on the same or a different machine. You can choose to encrypt the backup with a passphrase. In a recent #Firefox Nightly, visit about:settings#sync and scroll down to the Backup section to manage it.

An odd glitch on my laptop that has persisted for multiple reboots over multiple days now: A short clip of audio, a female voice saying "and we have names for him" keeps playing... randomly... for multiple days now. At first I thought it was coming from a browser tab... had to be, right? I'm now down to five open browser tabs. All but one are specifically muted (though they don't play audio). And yet every so often without warning I get "and we have names for him" lady. I'd really love to know A) what the heck is going on here so I could fix it. and B) the context of those words... As a writing prompt I can see so many ways to go with that: "And we have names for him". It's so ambiguous. I'd love to know what came before "And", who he is, etc. Also what is going on with Debian+Gnome+Firefox that gives me the names lady. #Linux #Debian #Gnome #Firefox

(Linux news in previous posts) FOSS NEWS Odysee plans feature to play any YouTube video directly inside its app soon without ads: https://alternativeto.net/news/2026/2/odysee-plans-feature-to-play-any-youtube-video-directly-inside-its-app-soon-without-ads/ (Oh no, why the heck they want another legal trouble? I mean, it sounds good for the users, but it gives a reason to authorities to mess with them, and potentially sue them into bankruptcy, like they already did with their parent company, LBRY. Of course, NewPipe, Invidious, FreeTube, etc. do the same, but those are community projects, can't be attacked that easily, and even if they can be, they don't have that much to lose. In contrast, Odysee is a company, which employs people, who have to make a living. Also, it's a separate platform, which will be lost, if they lose the lawsuit (which is pretty likely, because authorities don't give a crap about digital freedom, only about the big corps' business, they don't consider YouTube datamining people a crime, but they do consider companies "hurting" big tech, see the YouTube Vanced case)) (And tbh, I personally prefer to watch YouTube videos without tying my watch history into an online account, FreeTube already offers a really solid experience) Firefox 148 Is Now Available for Download with AI Kill Switch and Other Changes: https://9to5linux.com/firefox-148-is-now-available-for-download-with-ai-kill-switch-and-other-changes Firefox 149 Enters Beta with Split View, More Robust HTTP/3 Upload Performance: https://9to5linux.com/firefox-149-enters-beta-with-split-view-more-robust-http-3-upload-performance Ladybird web browser begins Rust adoption, starting with JavaScript engine, with AI help: https://alternativeto.net/news/2026/2/ladybird-web-browser-begins-rust-adoption-starting-with-javascript-engine-with-ai-help/ Servo Browser Engine Starts 2026 With Many Notable Improvements: https://www.phoronix.com/news/Servo-January-2026 Thunderbird 148 Email Client Improves Accessibility in Various Tree Views: https://9to5linux.com/thunderbird-148-email-client-improves-accessibility-in-various-tree-views Ente launches Locker, a new open-source secure vault with end-to-end encryption: https://alternativeto.net/news/2026/2/ente-launches-locker-a-new-open-source-secure-vault-with-end-to-end-encryption/ (more FOSS news in comments) #WeeklyNews #OpenSource #FOSSNews #FOSS #OpenSourceNews #News #Odysee #YouTube #Firefox #Firefox148 #FirefoxBeta #Ladybird #Servo #Thunderbird #Ente #EnteLocker #Browser #EmailClient #WebBrowser #BrowserEngine #Email #FosseryTech

Six years ago #Firefox announced they followed Chrome and removed FTP. #curl did not. Still hasn't. https://daniel.haxx.se/blog/2020/04/15/curl-is-not-removing-ftp/

Something to look forward to for Firefox fans. It’s called Project Nova, the web browser’s first redesign in six years. With the revamp, Firefox aims to distinguish itself from Chrome and Edge by offering control over AI features while maintaining its focus on privacy. As someone who uses uMatrix but also had to occasionally use xTwit, their t-dot-co tracking URL/redirects are always blocked. Thankfully for any #Firefox compatible browser, I found this addon that changes the URLs on xTwit directly, no redirect. You know, almost like when people share links, they may do it to be helpful, not just to see if you'll click. #SocialMedia #xitter https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/url-cleaner-t-co-resolver/

I just noticed a reproducible issue: I have music playing in one tab in my #firefox (using #navidrome). Whenever I switch through my tabs, the music hangs for a split second every now and then. This is reproducible. It does not happen with every tab, just with some (e.g. docs.rs - which itself does not play sounds). Has someone experienced something similar?

Firefox is adding a free, built-in browser VPN (starting in version 149) for users in the US, UK, France, and Germany, with 50GB of monthly data. It only protects traffic inside Firefox—not other apps so it’s useful for casual privacy but not a full system-wide VPN replacement.

  1. Firefox is adding a free, built-in VPN to the browser starting with version 149, initially for users in the US, UK, France, and Germany, with over 50GB of data per month.

  2. This VPN works only inside Firefox, protecting just browser traffic not other apps, other browsers, or system-wide network activity so it’s not a full replacement for a stand-alone VPN.

  3. Free VPNs can be risky, but Mozilla says its service follows its privacy and data principles; its VPN tech has been independently audited and uses the secure WireGuard protocol.

  4. Experts warn the limited scope might give non-technical users a false sense of full protection, even though it only covers web browsing in Firefox.

  5. Security expert Jacob Kalvo says it’s good for casual use and the 50GB limit is generous, but he doesn’t recommend it for sensitive data, competitive intelligence, or large-scale operations.

I just blocked all AI enhancements in Firefox 148.0. Did you ask Mozilla for the option to "keep a chatbot in view as you browse"? If not, who did? And why? #mozilla #firefox #anthropic #openai #microsoft #google #mistral #ai #enshittification
