#3GoodThings My cousin who I have not seen in years was in town, so we caught up over an extended lunch at South Branch in #Chicago. Food was great,; company was better. I organized a volunteer day with my team from work at Bernie's Book Bank. It was a lot of fun and felt like for a few hours, we made a difference. Speaking of #books, I'm super excited for a couple due out this year by fave authors: Exit Party by #EmilyStJohnMandel and Other Worlds Than These by #StephenKing. @3goodthings@a.gup.pe

👩‍💻​ My So Called Sudo Life: Jailbroken Kindle edition 📖​ If you followed my #Jailbreaking adventures this past week, I'd like to add a final chapter on the positive effect it had on my reading habits. Long story short: I used to be an avid reader and I had sadly lost the habit of reading books in the last couple of years (blaming tiredness at the end of the day). I had been looking for a system to encourage me to get back on track. When I found out about #KOreader and #SimpleUI I was totally smitten: an elegant interface that kept track of my reading stats? Sign me up! In the photo I've attached you can see my reading stats for the past week - aka since I started using KOreader and SimpleUI. If you don't want to squint / find it harder to read: my daily reading average is about 40 minutes. Not bad! I know this is common knowledge, particularly for blind users, but I’m obsessed with ElevenLabs. The human-sounding voices are incredible; they've made listening to ebooks an amazing experience. Now I barely need other apps for ebooks, #Audiobooks are still my main choice, but when an audiobook is not available, or if I don't like the narrator's voice, then I always use Eleven Reader as an option. It means now I can read more and more with even a bigger pleasure. #Accessibility #Blind #Books #Bookstodon #Technology #AI
