Checking in on the youngest local Tawny Frogmouth. Haven't seen the parents around as much lately as would be normal but hopefully the kid getting nicely chonky is a sign they're still both around and involved. #birds #birding #TawnyFrogmouth #wildlife #wildoz

You wouldn't think a bird this colourful could be so good at not being seen, but they are surprisingly difficult to spot. #Bird #AustralianWildlife #WildOz #RainbowLorikeet

Earlier in the week my wife and I spent a couple of nights up at Alexandra Headland. Was good to have a little time off work. I still have plenty of leave to take despite the few months we took off in EU last year. The lorikeets must be fed by the guests at this place, we would get a half dozen at a time come visit. #SunshineCoast #WildOz #Queensland

My best photo yet of a native Blue-Banded Bee! 😍 😍 😍 It doesn't do the brilliance of the blue justice, though. They are buzz pollinators, so as usual, I heard it before I saw it. (Buzz pollinators shake the pollen off by vibrating — it's a loud buzz!) More about them here: https://www.australiangeographic.com.au/blogs/creatura-with-bec-crew/2014/09/blue-banded-bee-a-native-beauty/ #WildOz #Bees

Found a local Tawny Frogmouth not quite ready to wake up for an night of snacking on insects and roaming the neighbourhood. Something I’ve found fascinating about them is how supremely unbothered they are. While the local suburban area doesn’t have expansive nature, there’s definitely trees they could go to find some better quiet and privacy from humans. Instead I routinely see them in various trees right next to bike paths busy during their daytime sleeping hours. Even saw one family of them who nested over the fence of a primary school playground! #birds #birding #TawnyFrogmouth #wildlife #wildoz
