Gute Nacht, Freunde. Very little writing (but I know what Moon will face next). My focus went to finally setting up a Ben & Sylvia bonus story as a "subscriber lure". And now, this lure is dangling in the water, waiting for little fan fishies to bite. If you enjoyed A Wolf's Quest (free in all stores!), here's the link for the bonus story. You'll have to enter your email - but you can always unsubscribe. https://dl.bookfunnel.com/t0f4zpexi4 #WritingCommunity #WolfShifter

#WritersCoffeeClub 4/27. Share a possibly unpopular opinion. 👀 (Be kind!) Every time I see an author striving for being trad published, I wince inside. Trad publishing is a cruel mill, crushing dreams, crushing books. It is run by investment companies who couldn't care less about stories, and they certainly no longer build up authors. I do understand the yearning for recognition and a slice of fame, but trad... trad is crushing people. So ask me anything about being indie. #WritingCommunity

WHEN HUMANS BECAME POOR It Wasn’t When We Lost Money — It Was When We Lost Something Deeper We didn’t become poor because we had less— we became poor when we forgot what enough feels like. #ScribesAndMakers 4/24. Our next featured creator has a "love/hate affair with common tropes." What's your relationship with tropes? We're just good friends. Don't listen to gossip. I have no problem with them in general, tropes make the reader comfortable and can be a shorthand around long explanations. But it's also nice to liven things up by breaking tropes. The writers of Buffy (Marti Noxon et al) loved doing this. #writing #writingCommunity

#WritersCoffeeClub 4/24. Share a silly mistake you've made while writing. Is silly the right word? Whatever. Most recently I had a "him" when I needed a "her" - it was a critically important distinction, and I didn't even notice until I was listening to the audiobook files. The mistake was due to a character that was no longer a "he" (it's complicated). Many of the characters knew about the change but *not* the one who said that line who said what they could see - but I got it wrong because I knew. #writing #writingCommunity

#Patreon supporters on my #writing profile now have early access to Episode 33 of "The Cleansing". Findat is accused of hiding vital truths from his team, only for him to discover he could not have known about every truth of Shanvér Woods in the first place. #writing #serialfiction #writingcommunity https://www.patreon.com/posts/episode-33-156394877

#ScribesAndMakers 4/23. Have fairy tales influenced any of your creative work? Probably but in no identifiable way. #writing #writingCommunity

While reading Murakami’s “The City and its Uncertain Walls” I came across a weird symbol near the spine on page 38. Part of me knows it’s a print artifact, but another hopes it’s more: a mystery; a gateway; a sign. Yeah, that’s how deeply I read. #Writing #WritingCommunity #Reading

#WritersCoffeeClub 3/30. What got in the way of your writing this month? Feeling down. Being lonely. That gets me a lot, and I haven't found a good antidote yet. I just can't focus well on writing these days. I find my way back into a story, and then drop out again. I have learned not to push, or it gets worse. It's frustrating, but it is what it is right now. #WritingCommunity

#ScribesAndMakers 4/16. How do you feel about illustrations in (non-comic) books? On the one hand, I really like the idea and that was one reason I started doing monochrome erotic illustrations. On the other hand, I don't like forcing my own image of the characters on my readers. On the other other hand, Bookfunnel are now allowing additional item downloads with any books they're delivering so you can give people extra stuff - including pictures. And on the final hand, I can't do it for most of my fantasy books because there is no 3D model of a feathered wyvern, which is beyond frustrating. (I've even offered people money to make one.) #writing #writingCommunity #3dRender #noAI #madeWithDaz #3dArt #CGI #art #wotw #WarOfTheWorlds #humanMade #ironPegasus #malihaAnderson #elona

#ScribesAndMakers 2/22. Create a poll giving a line from a book you wrote (or a favourite if you haven't written one) along with lines from two other books. Ask people to choose which was from yours. Snippet A. “You should be thankful you didn’t get caught breaking curfew.” Snippet B. “I must find this fellow, this Lemuel, and discover what he has done with our daughter.” Snippet C. “I’ll be there at two and I’ll be wearing red.” #writing #writingCommunity

Poets, how do you organize material for publication? Other than random single poems in print, I published on Kindle 1 collection based on a theme. I’m going to pull it and reissue (different publisher) as part of a book I’m calling 3 “collections” (themes) in 1 volume (still writing it). Much of my work is on different subjects, emotions, thoughts. Do you publish collections without a unifying theme? I’m all about being organized but wonder what a collection of unrelated poems could be like. It will be a joy to write again without a thematic group in mind! #poetry #poets #poetrycommunity #writing #writingcommunity #writerscoffeeclub

All #WritersCoffeeClub and #ScribesAndMakers authors: Last week we wrapped up our annual #MageMadness tournament, which features spellcasters from legend, literature, media, and real life facing off in one-on-one duels. Thanks to those who participated! We had a lot of fun watching the votes come in. For next year, I think it would be great to include some wizards, witches, and magi from the fediverse #WritingCommunity. So, if you'd like to see how your favorite magic-using characters stack up against the best in the business, please respond to this toot with your pick and the book or series they feature in. And be sure to follow the hashtag so you can support them next March. #WizardLife

#ScribesAndMakers 4/12. Create a poll with three words that appear in your WIP and one that doesn't. Ask people to guess the one that doesn't. Probably easier for me because currently my WIP is only about 1000 words. So, which of these words does not appear in my WIP (so far)? #writing #writingCommunity

#ScribesAndMakers 4/13. Reveal the answer to yesterday's poll. It was boulders. I'm not quite sure how that turned out to be the most selected answer. #writing #writingCommunity
