@bagder@mastodon.social I'd still rather stick with a #NoAI policy like @mrmasterkeyboard… I'm judt pissed that the amount of #AIslop harms #legacy / #embedded #Support on #Linux and becomes a pain in the ass to me working on @OS1337@infosec.space

RE: https://mastodon.social/@caseynewton/116456942253634796 Opponents of AI are often depicted as naive and ignorant. We are depicted as having our heads buried in the sand, unwilling to accept the great capabilities of AI, or as insecure and afraid of AI's capabilities. I would like to flip this narrative around: I think pro-AI technologists who only look at AI's "capabilities" are the naive ones. This is because the AI industry and the people funding, producing, and pushing AI tools are not at all working on the level of capability - they are working on the level of AI as ideology. They are interested in AI as a tool to devalue labour, suppress wages, justify layoffs, and foster dependency on centralized tools controlled by a few companies. Technologists who only focus on "this code can be written good by this tool" are not even playing on the right level. Programmers talking about "wow! look at the code it can generate!" feel to me at this point like the 2-dimensional inhabitants of Flatland. Perhaps this sounds conspiracy-minded to you, but the way in which AI is practically being deployed across industries is very stark evidence of this. The quoted employee monitoring at Meta, to gather data for using AI to devalue the work of white-collar workers, is just one example. AI mandates, token usage dashboards, performance reviews based on AI adoption, AI code acceptance metrics, and even the time and energy spent on building AI tools rather than things that would actually improve product quality - these are all in service of the same ideology. The AI industry, and those who push AI tools are fundamentally uninterested in making your work better or leaving you in control of your work. They are telling you this directly through both words and actions. I think ignoring that is a stunning level of naïvete. #noAI

I talked with Meta employees about the company's move to track their computer use and turn them into training data. Is this the future of knowledge work? https://www.platformer.news/meta-mci-monitoring-layoffs-knowledge-work/

@Tutanota@mastodon.social Fastmail just announced that they have added MCP support, so that AI can access your mail. How nuts is that for a 'privacy focused' email service. So I've decided to migrate. Maybe to your service, but I have to be sure that you'll never allow AI to access my data, no matter if I want that voluntarily. For me it's fundamentally wrong to add such access, even when it's optionally. #noAI

I got an email from my bank with the subject line: "Protect your business from AI-driven fraud." So yeah, another win for AI, really improving the lives of... scammers? #AI #NoAI #FuckAI

I fucking hate AI. I just watched a video of a dog doing something that I thought was cool, and then someone pointed out to me that it was generated with AI. I hate that we have to research every new video, every new image, every new song, every new everything, to make sure it's not AI generated. AI is ruining everything. #noai #fuckai

@octothorpe@mastodon.online @davemark@mastodon.social If was it the kind of AutoCorrupt where you type the RIGHT thing and the freaking AI in your device thinks you meant something else and changes it? That is the worst. #NoAI

#ScribesAndMakers 4/16. How do you feel about illustrations in (non-comic) books? On the one hand, I really like the idea and that was one reason I started doing monochrome erotic illustrations. On the other hand, I don't like forcing my own image of the characters on my readers. On the other other hand, Bookfunnel are now allowing additional item downloads with any books they're delivering so you can give people extra stuff - including pictures. And on the final hand, I can't do it for most of my fantasy books because there is no 3D model of a feathered wyvern, which is beyond frustrating. (I've even offered people money to make one.) #writing #writingCommunity #3dRender #noAI #madeWithDaz #3dArt #CGI #art #wotw #WarOfTheWorlds #humanMade #ironPegasus #malihaAnderson #elona

RE: https://infosec.exchange/@david_chisnall/116379211678912109 This is one of the best descriptions of AI that I have read so far: "It isn’t a technology, it’s a branding term, and it’s a branding term used almost exclusively for things that have no social benefit." -- @david_chisnall@infosec.exchange #NoAI #AIisAScam

Wikipedia's new "no LLM" policy Sensitive
Good news, as of 27 March. (I had missed this when it came out.) Wikipedia content guidelines now prohibit the use of genAI tools, with two well-defined minor exceptions. An important step. quote "Text generated by large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, or Grammarly often violates several of Wikipedia's core content policies. For this reason, the use of LLMs to generate or rewrite article content is prohibited, save for [...] two exceptions." end-quote The two listed exceptions are (i) basic copyediting support, under human review, and (ii) translation into English. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Writing_articles_with_large_language_models #noAI #noLLM #StopTheAICorruption #Wikipedia #WikipediaContentGuidelines #WikipediaNoLLM

"Texting a stranger is better for reducing loneliness than an AI chatbot, study finds" From CTV News: https://www.ctvnews.ca/vancouver/article/texting-a-stranger-is-better-for-reducing-loneliness-than-an-ai-chatbot-study-finds/ "The study found that only those who texted with a fellow human reported feeling less lonely at the end of the experiment. 'We thought that interacting with AI might be as helpful as texting with a random fellow first-year student,' said the study’s author, psychology PhD candidate Ruo-Ning Li, in a media release. 'But to our surprise, only the human-to-human texting reduced loneliness over time. The chatbot, even though we designed it to be the ideal supportive friend, didn’t shift loneliness.'" #NoAI #Loneliness
