So I’m testing out #Ubuntu2604LTS on an intel #thinkpad T14 gen 4 and the standby battery life is atrocious. Went to bed around 10pm, closed the lid and when I woke up in the morning it was completely dead. Am I missing something. I thought newer kernels handled sleep and power settings better? This is borderline unusable. #linux #battery #standby #ubuntu

#Ubuntu 26.04 was released and all its derivatives as well. My Linux torrent seedbox is running at maximum speed, I downloaded all ISOs from the CDN to bootstrap all the torrents that are way too slow because there was a single source only. #torrent #linux

🐧 Ubuntu Looks Toward More Snap-Based Devpacks Moving Forward 「 Ubuntu Devpacks have come about over the past year as Snaps that bundle framework-specific tools with curated defaults all into a convenient stack built around Ubuntu's Snap format. Ubuntu Devpacks began for Java/Spring, .NET, Golang, and more while moving ahead Canonical is looking at expanding the scope. 」 https://www.phoronix.com/news/Ubuntu-More-Devpacks-Future #snap #snaps #ubuntu #opensource

I'm definitely changing my operating system to Linux Ubuntu. I mostly use a decent laptop (An ACER Aspire, 10th gen i3, 8 gb RAM) for my daily routine: google, mail, youtube, movies, music... it runs perfectly smooth with Windows 11, I don't need more than that, honesty. But: I know there are LOTS of apps running without knowing what they are, consuming my computer resources and constantly sending information without my permission (OK, with my permission, 'cause we all accept the conditions of Windows, if we use Windows xD ). So, I'm finally doing something about my digital autonomy, besides leaving centralized social media. Every day a new step! Go! What operating system do you use? #linux #ubuntu #socialmedia #windows

#CaliforniaLaw is written by people who are either very ignorant or very incompetent. https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billStatusClient.xhtml?bill_id=202520260AB1043 They have assumed that all operating systems are like Microsoft Windows 11, Android, or iOS; and have written legislation for operating systems where people download glorified WWW client 'apps', from 'stores', which use 'accounts' that they have with vendors or Microsoft/Google/Apple. But the legislation *as worded* *also* covers everything from #Debian and #Ubuntu through #Arch Linux and #MobaXTerm to #FreeBSD and #NetBSD and #OpenBSD; where users anonymously use package managers or ports systems to install applications, written by developers, on operating systems, from 'publicly available internet website' repositories. There is no age field in the GECOS data in master.passwd(5) of course, and the reality is that no BSD or Linux-based operating system has this concept of apps/stores/accounts. #MidnightBSD #FreeSoftware #Unix #California #USLaw #AgeVerification #GDPR

"Since the fast-food establishment is not known for Linux distributions, and since nobody wants a deep-fried penguin, we can only assume that Wilson witnessed what appears to be Ubuntu coquettishly flashing a desktop rather than confirming the customer's desires. Unless, of course, you can list those desires in a command line terminal window, and the drive-through operator is actually a secret Linux whizz, who has seen an opportunity to punch a keyboard randomly to do "cyber." Poprawa audio na FP5 będzie miała również wpływ na FP6, gdyż jak czytamy na wiki: "Fairphone 6 shares the same sound amplifier as the previous version, therefore, development might be related to Fairphone 5". #fairphone #fp6 #fp5 #fp4 #postmarketos #ubuntu #ubuntutouch #linux #linuxmobile #linuxphone

#PayUsEnoughToLive is not just the high cost of living and low wages. That is just the start. It means not having to work multiple jobs It means being able to have a good education It means being able to have good housing. It means being able to raise a family. It means being able to have good health. It means being able to retire. It means being able to have hobbies. It means being able to exercise. It means being part of communities. It means living in safe neighbourhoods. It means drinking clean water straight from the tap. It means eating good quality food. It means breathing unpolluted air. It means nationalising industries. It means safe roads. It means public transport. It means parks and green spaces in cities It means protected wilderness. It means biodiversity It means a stable climate It means the redistribution of wealth. It means stamping out corruption. It means no "AI" slop It means stopping "AI" taking everyone's jobs It means everyone has a good life It means everyone has a life that is worth living. It means that everyone contributes to making the world a better place. It means everyone has the freedoms set out in the #UNDeclarationOfHumanRights It means #Ubuntu It means #dignity It means its time for the billionaires to hide in their bunkers because we are coming for them. We all know things shouldn't be like this sad sorry state of affairs. Its time to make the better world we know is possible. Starting RIGHT NOW. Monke together STRONG. #Resist

Ubuntu now wants 6GB of RAM during a global memory shortage — talk about terrible timing for PC users. Canonical has raised the minimum RAM requirement for #Ubuntu 26.04 LTS by 50%, now requiring at least 6GB of memory alongside a dual-core 2GHz CPU and 25GB of storage. #Linux https://www.techradar.com/pro/talk-about-bad-timing-even-linux-is-asking-for-more-ram-now-despite-global-shortages-hitting-pc-fans-hard

Easter test weekend, initial findings. 😎 :fedora: On Fedora 44 Beta GNOME Edition, the file manager crashes every time I try to access my NAS. There are also frequent freezes with apps that weren’t included by default and were installed later. :ubuntu: Ubuntu 26.04 LTS also comes with GNOME 50, and unlike Fedora, it already includes kernel 7.0, which is great—especially for the latest hardware. This beta also seems to run more smoothly and stably than Fedora’s beta. However, it’s impossible to install or get Flatpaks to work, even though I installed the feature myself. It was also absolutely impossible to install the Nextcloud client, neither as a Snap nor as a Flatpak. I couldn’t get AppImage to start, even after making it executable. Nevertheless, both distributions already make a great impression and leave me wanting more as soon as they become stable. Ubuntu, in particular, has positively surprised me after many years; major strides have been made, whereas with Fedora, hardly any major changes are noticeable—they’re more under the hood. 👍 #linux #unix #opensource #freesoftware #fedora #fedora44beta #ubuntu #ubuntu2604 #gnome #gnome50 #kernel #kernel7

Pushed out a small update to #TempusGameIt earlier this evening. 1.62.4 adds start on login support to linux. On linux, to get things to be in the correct state you'll want to toggle the setting off, then on. I tested it on a standard #Ubuntu install, but if someone tries it on another distro and has any issues, please let me know! https://tempusgameit.com
