Why the hell do I constantly have problems with KDE Plasma and that piece of crap Akonadi???? Constant error messages, crashes, etc. whenever I try to connect to a calendar! It doesn't matter at all whether I try the Nextcloud Calendar, iCloud Calendar, or Google Calendar. And when I remove an online calendar, everything freezes—the entire KDE desktop. I’ve had this problem for years, no matter which version of KDE I use. I never have these kinds of problems with GNOME or GNOME Calendar. Akonadi is just a piece of software crap. 💩 #linux #opensource #freesoftware #kde #akonadi

Okay, I've got a bunch of work to do... ... but I'd also like to install Devuan Linux with KDE Plasma on a ThinkCentre Tiny. Which is also productive work, as I want to test it out as an option to pre-install for customers who want Linux, but not urgent at all. In related news, I am gearing up to start a weekly computer giveaway. #Devuan #KDE #Linux

Plasma is getting better and better and the time has come to install it on your friends and parents computers. All you have to do in 2026 to migrate someone to linux is pick a sane base distro, like fedora or debian, install plasma and the kde software suite on it and show them how to install and upgrade packages. That's it. Additional recomendations: If they have older windows software they still use, install them the bottles flatpak and show them how to use it. If they really need office, show them how to use it in the browser. If they ever used photoshop, show them krita. Additional opinion on picking the distro: I think if they are a tinkerer, don't hesitate and give them an archlinux install. arch-install exists and it takes no time to get kde plasma installed with it. They will love the archwiki and probably profit from the AUR at some point. https://kde.org/announcements/plasma/6/6.6.0/ #kde #linux #distros #didit

My desktop is KDE Plasma, but I also like to use GNOME apps. I find funny how this weird mix of Qt+GTK4 happens to be exactly like the weird mix of Win32+UWP on Windows. #Linux #Desktop #Windows #KDE #Plasma #GNOME #Qt #GTK #Win32 #UWP

I have written some basic Maintainer and Contribution guidelines for KDE here, nothing groundbreaking, just some guidelines people are encouraged to follow. It's still in bit of a flux state and will likely get updated multiple times based on feedback. https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Maintainers_and_Contributions #KDE #Linux
