Z cyklu nocnych rozkmin, być może pozbawionych większego sensu... Jest pewien powód, dla którego sądzę, że Fairphony to przyszłość telefonów, na który mało kto zwraca uwagę, bo jest to rzecz nieoczywista, a w szczególności dla osób, które nie siedzą w tym zakątku Internetu. Otwartość tych telefonów, łatwy dostęp bo ich "bebechów" przyczyniło się do tego, że najnowsze modele Fairphone 4, 5 oraz gen. 6 w zasadzie to jedne z najnowszych (jak nie najnowsze) telefony dostępne w bazie postmarketOS, które zarazem większość funkcjonalności mają na wiki odhaczoną jako zaimplementowaną. W szczególności piorunująco szybki postęp zaliczył Fairphone gen. 6, który w ciągu niespełna roku od wypuszczenia na rynek prawie doskoczył poziomem wsparcia do swojego poprzednika. A wsparcie to jeszcze w tym roku ulegnie znaczącej poprawie, gdyż poczyniono gigantyczne postępy z obsługą audio na Fairphone 5, gdzie status "broken" już teraz zmienił się na "partial" i znaczacej edycji uległa dedykowana strona na wiki poświęcona problemom z audio na Fairphone 5. Poprawa audio na FP5 będzie miała również wpływ na FP6, gdyż jak czytamy na wiki: "Fairphone 6 shares the same sound amplifier as the previous version, therefore, development might be related to Fairphone 5". Również warto odnotować to, że modele FP4 i FP5 są najlepiej wspieranymi urządzeniami na innym systemie na bazie Linuxa, Ubuntu Touch oraz jest szeroka dostępność różnych dystrybucji Androida dostępnych dla wszystkich modeli (pomijając FP6, dla którego np. nie ma jeszcze oficjalnego builda LineageOS, chociaż da się zainstalować nieoficjalny społecznościowy build). W związku z tym wszystkim, Fairphone może mieć najbardziej otwarte telefony na rynku nie tylko pod względem hardwaru, ale także i oprogramowania. Przy czym sam hardware jest świeży, bo telefonów starszych, już dawno nie wspieranych, z w miarę dobrym wsparciem mobilnych Linuxów jest trochę. #fairphone #fp6 #fp5 #fp4 #postmarketos #ubuntu #ubuntutouch #linux #linuxmobile #linuxphone

Na wspomnianym wcześniej Xiaomi Redmi 4A robię testy #postmarketos, żeby sprawdzić sobie w praktyce, jak to wszystko działa. Według wiki na tym telefonie ma nie działać głównie bateria, część kamer i część czujników. Na pierwszy ogień wleciała #plasmamobile, lecz całe środowisko graficzne jest zbugowane. Część elementów interfejsu oraz tekstu potrafi sobie znikać. Uwag mam znacznie więcej, ale pewnie będę testować jeszcze inne środowiska graficzne i będę prowadził notatki, robił zdjęcia, nagrania. Trochę się pobawię, zbiorę to wszystko i pewnie dobrym ludziom z @postmarketOS@social.treehouse.systems przekażę ;) Na kolejny ogień Phosh

Bardzo podoba mi się podejście #fairphone do kwestii instalowania innych systemów na ich urządzeniach. Jeżeli dojdzie do zamknięcia Androda, to będę mógł wówczas przemigrować na np. #lineageos bez utracenia swojej gwarancji. Czuję, że nadejdzie czas, gdy będę musiał skorzystać z takiej opcji, ale zanim do tego dojdzie... Mam dwa stare telefony w domu, z którymi mogę się pobawić i przetestować sobie tzw. custom ROMy Androida czy większe nisze jak #ubuntutouch czy #postmarketos ;)

@stfn@fedi.stfn.pl OnePlus 6 or 6T are pretty cheap on eBay. #PostmarketOS works pretty well, or at least usefully, on them

@cwebber@social.coop Language and branding is important in conveying ideas and setting expectations for the general public. For example, Apple managed to convince people that “a Mac” was a totally different type of thing from “a PC”; if it's different, maybe it's better. And an “iPhone“ is not the same type of thing as a “computer”, so don't expect to be able to do everything a “computer” can; it's a new different thing. So I think we need a word that means a local-first computer that you actually control. “PC” is already taken; “sickobox” is (alas) a hard sell. I propose we use the word #cyberdeck. A *cyberdeck* means a local-first computer that you actually control. My #PinePhone with #postmarketOS is a prototype cyberdeck. @modal@mastodon.design are trying to make a ready-for-primetime cyberdeck.

I think I have a phone addiction. Am I constantly on my smartphone doomscrolling news/socials? Not at all, I often leave the thing untouched for days and don't have traditional social media. Am I constantly chattering on various calls racking up the phone bill? Nope, 5 minutes calltime a month is probably already a gross overestimate. Glued to my phone in public transport? No, I look out the window. Then what is the problem? I keep buying second hand phones to try #postmarketos and #sxmo on !!

Posh #postmarketos SMS kommen doppelt an. 🙄 Kontakte der SIM-Karte werden nicht eingelesen. "Alles sehr gut." Wlan tut. GUI ruckelt.... hab keine Lust mehr.

Sucht man mit dem Software Installer unter #postmarketos (Posh) die #signal App, dann gibt es da keine. Sucht man nach #telegram dann findet man, dass da wohl schon was von installiert wurde. Deinstalliert man das... verschwindet der Software Installer. #diday So viel zum Thema "Alternativen" beim Smartphone :bang_head: :elon:

@flysqu@tech.lgbt @cfo@tooting.ch Fair enough, each to their own. Main reasons I've used #UbuntuTouch for over 10 years are (1) it is a phone, with calls, camera, music etc that actually work - and well; (2) it has a good store of apps that work on handheld devices; (3) it's not Google or Apple. I have a handheld device with #PostmarketOS too, and it's nice and all that, but not yet actually a working phone. When it matches the capability of #UbuntuTouch as a daily driver I might switch, but it's not there yet. I appreciate all the work that the developers are putting in on both OSes.

Ein 2. langzeitversuch mit #postmarketos naja. camera wird nicht erkannt und statt einem handy poweroff froert der screen 1min ein und ich sehr 3 ruckelig auf und ab springende punkte für 2 bis 3 minuten. dann eine minute lang ein "shiting down" bild. 😂😬🙄

@cfo@tooting.ch Do you need to make telephone calls? Play audio? Use GPS? If yes, #UbuntuTouch will be better for you. #PostmarketOS is great, but still feels much more experimental. (I use both OSes)

We just tried out our collaborative text-editor Reflection on a smartphone using @postmarketOS@social.treehouse.systems and are a bit blown away by how cool that was. All it took was to install it via the Flathub store. #localfirst #p2p #postmarketos
