Es gibt viele Beispiele die aufzeigen, wie die vielbeschworene Digitalisierung und "Smartifizierung der Welt" vor allem eine Transformation in eine noch autoritärere und repressivere Zukunft bedeuten kann. Die biometrische Überwachung/Verfolgung von Frauen in Iran und von Kriegsdienstverweigernden in Russland sowie die Zero-Covid-Politik des chinesischen Staates sind offensichtliche Beispiele dafür. Und auch im Überwachungskapitalismus des "demokratischen Westens" werden solche Entwicklungen schon seit einer ganzen Weile auf hohen Ebenen herbeigesehnt, wie z.B. das Dokument "Smart City Charta" von Bundesinstituten und dem Bundesumweltministerium aus dem Jahr 2017 zeigt. By 2026, over 130 countries representing 98 percent of global GDP are developing or implementing Central Bank Digital Currencies. This is not just digital cash. It is a fundamental restructuring of the relationship between state and citizen. Unlike physical cash, which remains anonymous and decentralized, CBDCs are the opposite. Fully transparent. Fully controlled. Fully dependent on whether your actions are approved by authorities. The most dangerous feature is programmable money. Specific mechanisms already being tested or discussed include expiration dates for currency, spending restrictions on specific categories of goods, geographic limitations on where funds can be used, and instantaneous disconnection from the financial system without court proceedings or appeal. China's digital yuan serves as the pilot project for global control. Operating across 25 cities. Seven trillion yuan in transactions. Tied to identity through passport, phone number, and facial recognition. Already used to block accounts of protesters. Already linked to social credit scores. The European Central Bank is piloting the digital euro with a 3,000 euro holding limit. Offline functionality means delayed synchronization, not true anonymity. Denmark has already removed mandatory cash acceptance. Sweden is moving in the same direction. Canada's 2022 Freedom Convoy showed what is possible: bank accounts frozen by government order. @kagihq@mastodon.social I haven't cancelled, but I've got to admit that I came close when I realized that you were sending every search ending in a question mark straight to Google. Now I just avoid using your AI features as the main reason I started subscribing was to get decent search without being surveilled by the likes of Google. I'll admit though, that the first competitor to come along providing even a vaguely similar service without Google / Yandex involved will immediately take my current Kagi subscription. So much of what you do is so promising, and then you undermine it by sharing data with the exact companies we're trying to get away from.
