#theBeeAt3 Basic bee facts every day at 3pm. # 313 Glyphosate Based Herbicides (GBH) are the most widely used #pesticides globally. Increased use of genetically engineered glyphosate-tolerant crops which allow GBH application throughout the growing season hugely increases GBH exposure with severe consequences for #bees and ecosystems. #food #nature #insects #science #education #biodiversity #environment #worldbeesanctuary #vegan

The new #bees package seem to be doing good. They are busy drawing out new frames of comb, cleaning up other frames, and storing nectar and pollen. They did get their queen out of her little cage. We did not see her royal highness. We thought we did at one point, but then wasn't sure it was Herself. 🧐 They ate the whole entire frame of 🍯 we gave them, both sides, and drank 6 cups of 1:1 syrup out of their feeder. We put another 6 cups 1:1 in their feeder. Will check again next weekend. 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝 #beekeeping

1 million bees make for bumper-to-buzzer traffic on a Tennessee highway ramp Travelers on an East Tennessee interstate were forced to brake for workers — and drones, perhaps even a queen — when a truck carrying about 1 million bees crashed Friday. The swarm shut down an exit of Interstate 40 in Knoxville. There were no injuries. #bees https://apnews.com/article/bees-highway-crash-tennessee-592ae29c23856d6b67bcc7123fe9867a

The new 3-lb. Carniolan #bees package has been installed and fed. Now we give them a week to free their new queen from her tiny cage and I will check on them next weekend. 🐝🍯🐝🍯🐝🍯🐝 Yesterday was a LONG day! It was a 3.5 hour drive one-way to pick them up! This is my last try with bees; if they don't make it thru the winter, I'm going to sell my gear. 😤 #beekeeping

If you want some healthy honey makers, just grow this very nutritional yeast, dry it, and let them dig it up. Bee mine https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2026/03/260327000518.htm?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&utm_campaign=fark&ICID=ref_fark #stem #science #bees #spiffy

It’s that time of year - folks asking us about #bumblebees - WHY THEY’RE SEEING THEM ON THE GROUND - so here’s a thread to explain. Please #repost ! Every queen that survives means a new colony that gets to exist & produce queen #bees for next year! So important to #share! Thank you.🙏🏼🐝🌍 1/9 #nature #environment #biodiversity #science #education #worldbeesanctuary

#theBeeAt3 Basic bee facts every day at 3pm. # 286 Before entering hibernation in the autumn #bumblebee queens build up reserves of fat and glycogen in their bodies. These queens will lose up to 80% of their fat reserves during #hibernation over the winter period. #bees #nature #worldbeesanctuary #environment #biodiversity #insects #science #education #vegan

#News: HUGE win for the #bees in the #Amazon! 🧐🐝 Stingless bees are the first #insects EVER granted legal rights. They are threatened by #mining and #palmoil. Most #JasonStatham movies are not worth it. I've mentioned #Homefront and Crank: High Voltage. The only reason that I stuck with #TheBeekeeper (2024), despite Statham once again strutting around muttering expressionlessly, fighting people, and stealing other people's cars, was the cast of British actors (from #MinnieDriver through #JemmaRedgrave to #DonGilet) all putting on their best General American accents and pretending to be the upper echelons of the U.S.A. intelligence services and government. I was also intrigued by the #bees, but that part was rubbish. There are holes in the plot that one could drive a truck through. Indeed, Statham does drive a truck through one, and ride underneath a truck over another. The whole premise of the movie is stupid, and it is nothing more than a bunch of fight scenes strung together, but not with anything like the panache of Kill Bill. Of course they've already made a sequel. I can make a good guess what Statham will be doing. #UKMovies

One of my favorite pollinator photos, and the bee isn't even in focus. Which is why I love it. (Bombus sp., Illinois) #bees #Bombus #pollination #Solidago #Nature

My best photo yet of a native Blue-Banded Bee! 😍 😍 😍 It doesn't do the brilliance of the blue justice, though. They are buzz pollinators, so as usual, I heard it before I saw it. (Buzz pollinators shake the pollen off by vibrating — it's a loud buzz!) More about them here: https://www.australiangeographic.com.au/blogs/creatura-with-bec-crew/2014/09/blue-banded-bee-a-native-beauty/ #WildOz #Bees

#theBeeAt3 Basic bee facts every day at 3pm. # 250 Bumblebees love #thistles (as do many #insects and #birds). Forget boyband bedding plants (so 90’s, pretty but ultimately useless) and have these kickass #punks of the #wildflower world in your patch. Sunflower family. #bees #nature #biodiversity #environment #bumblebees #wildlife #worldbeesanctuary

When the weather’s a washout, don't let your harvest fail! 🌧️🐝 If bees aren't flying, you can hand-pollinate courgettes yourself. Identify females by the tiny fruit at the base. Peel a male flower & press it into the female "trumpet." One male does it all! #GardeningTips #GrowYourOwn #Bees
