Hey #FediHiveMind / #AskMastodon, help me out here. As you can probably see from the lack of activity on this account, I'm ramping down my social media presence pretty hard. However, I still find myself with downtime where I want to read something, but don't have/don't have time or mental space to make progress on a nonfiction book and don't want to read fiction. What I actually want is a zine. So I'm looking for recommendations. Where do you get your zines? Are there any regularly or irregularly published series you recommend? Who are your go to distros? All types welcome, from fanzines to tabletop rpg zines to software zines to photo zines to political zines. #Zines! Thanks in advance.

Hi fedi folk - It’s lovely to be here! I just moved from mastodon.social to sunny.garden and think it’s time for an #introduction. I’m Bearina, 30-something from Mannheim, Germany. I make #zines, #ArtistTradingCards and have become a #printmaker recently. I also got back into #photography a few days ago which was my first hobby. I got my first point and shoot camera when I was 12 and fell in love with it before that, using my parents camera and strolling through the neighborhood. I like seeing creativity around me and love to get inspired by other artists. #SciFi is my jam and I love movies in general. And bears! Lovely creatures. #DeGoogling right now! Also I’m working on relaunching my website and make it more #IndieWeb friendly and #accessible but also give it a bit more personality. I want to start a blog and share my thoughts. Which reminds me: Words are hard! I try my best but not always succeed. I’m so excited to meet new people! I toot in German and English. #neuhier

1/2 Quite a lot of people in my feed create #zines. May I ask what programme you use for the design of pages with more text? Especially for #minizines ? I only know Indesign for professional books, and my last mini #zine was drawn/written by hand, then scanned. Any simple software recommandation just for a hobby? (And I don't have the money to pay Adobe-Stuff). How do you make your zines? ed: thanks to all for the great help! I recommend to read the comments! #zinemaking #zinester #zinemaker

@unruly@mastodon.social I hope so, because I've been thinking about this a lot for a lot of years. The motivating the population around yiu can take a million different forms, but they are primarily intended to bust through algorithmic bubble and bring a shot of reality into their IRL environment. Posters, flyers, stickers, zines and spray chalk are just some of the many ways. All while developing as much resilience as possible as #Resilience is an act of #resilience Haven't you always wanted to be Banksy? They may have fingered the OG, but msy a million Banksys spring up in his place. #Protest #resist #fascism #stickers #zines
