How do you know early when #Haikuos is preparing for a new release? It's when I start asking people to have a look at our #i18n / #translation tool and help complete translations for various languages. For beta releases, our policy is to include only languages where the translation is at least 60% complete. This time we need help to reach this in Belarusian, Croatian, Bulgarian, and Slovenian. Lithuanian and Slovak are above 60% but may need some help too.

RE: https://sunkencastles.com/2026/04/20/1101/ I was asked quite often whether I would consider using #LLM for my translations of German folk tales. I have strong opinions on this, and here they are. #folklore #translation #CulturalHeritage

The landing page for our Mastodon instance burningboard.net has been translated to English as well. Does someone have a look and give me feedback about it? Would be highly appreciated! URL: https://meta.burningboard.net/beta/ #mastodon #mastoadmin #translation #website

RE: https://mastodon.social/@kagihq/116013637460783600 This is insanely high-quality. I wanted to play around with its #Spanish translation capabilities and noticed it had Spanish from #costarica specifically. So I gave it as much #tico slang as could make sense and it got it incredibly well. Obviously, #translation is an art, and I might’ve used slightly different wording, but an anglophone would absolutely get the sentiment from this translation. It looks like I can’t post a picture on a quote-post, so I’ll reply here with the passage I used!

I did a little translation exercise of Mengzi: "故天将降大任于是人也,必先苦其心志,劳其筋骨,饿其体肤,空乏其身,行拂乱其所为..." "When Heaven means to plunge someone into great responsibility, it first torments their mind, wearies their bones, starves their skin, drains their wealth and disrupts their life." So I expect I'll be promoted to queen of the world any second now... #classicalchinese #translation #philosophy

For our new members. In every post, you have the option to set the language in which your post is written. This is an important feature. People can set which languages they want to see. If you set the wrong language, the post will be hidden from people who could read it. In addition, the translation function needs this information, because otherwise your post cannot be translated. #languages #translation #mastodon #introductionary
