#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release: #TfL said it holds data on bus lanes removed or shortened since 2021, but only in terms of total lengths retired rather than a count of individual lanes. A released dataset lists locations across numerous London boroughs, including Westminster, Camden, Southwark and Newham, detailing where lanes have been decommissioned. TfL said rising demand for road space and policies under the Mayor’s Transport Strategy have led to some lanes being suspended temporarily, shortened, or removed to support wider “Safe and Healthy Streets” measures. In some cases, alternative measures such as traffic signal technology are used to prioritise buses. TfL confirmed it does not hold information on specific closure dates or reasons for individual schemes. The dataset also includes operational hours, permitted vehicles and lane characteristics prior to removal. https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-4338-2526

#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release: #TfL has responded to a Freedom of Information request about upcoming Customer Service Assistant (CSA) recruitment. The request, submitted on 11 April 2026, asked when CSA and CSA Night Tube roles would open and when applications would begin. TfL stated that the next London Underground CSA recruitment round is expected to be advertised by November 2026. This is likely to focus on CSA2 full-time roles, although this may change depending on operational needs, with CSA1 full-time roles a possible alternative. Recruitment for CSA1 Night Tube roles is not expected to take place this year and may not be required for some time, based on current workforce forecasts. Job vacancies will be published on TfL’s website.

🇮🇪💳🚌 Passengers using TFI Local Link bus services in Kerry, #Ireland can now pay fares with contactless debit or credit cards, as well as mobile wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. The National #Transport Authority said the move simplifies payments and offers greater convenience for rural and regional travellers. The rollout follows a successful pilot in Cavan and Monaghan and expansion to several other areas, reflecting strong passenger demand. Contactless is currently available for single journeys, while daily and weekly fares remain available via Leap cards and online services. Cash and Free Travel Cards are still accepted. The NTA said the upgrade is part of wider efforts to modernise public transport and improve accessibility, with local managers welcoming the added flexibility and improved passenger experience. https://www.transportforireland.ie/news/passengers-on-tfi-local-link-kerry-services-can-now-use-contactless-card-payments/

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has launched a recruitment competition to appoint two Non-Executive Members to the Board of the Northern #Ireland #Transport Holding Company (NITHC). Established under the Transport Act (NI) 1967, NITHC oversees assets and its main subsidiaries—Ulsterbus, Metro and Northern Ireland Railways—operating as Translink. The organisation is expected to run commercially while aligning with ministerial policy. Kimmins described the roles as key to improving efficiency and promoting public transport, encouraging suitable candidates to apply. The posts require around two days per month, with attendance at board and ad hoc meetings. Annual remuneration is about £13,848, rising to £15,381 for subcommittee chairs, plus expenses. Appointments begin on 1 October 2026 for four years. Applications from under-represented groups are particularly encouraged. https://www.infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/news/launch-recruitment-competition-two-non-executive-members-board-northern-ireland-transport-holding-company-nithc

🇹🇷🚍 MAN Truck & Bus has begun series production of its fully electric Lion’s City E buses at its plant in #Ankara, marking a further step in its shift to zero-emission #transport. The #Turkish site becomes the company’s third e-bus production hub, alongside plants in Poland and South Africa. The move supports growing demand for electric buses and strengthens MAN’s global production network. The Ankara facility has been upgraded in recent years to support electric mobility, with plans to also build electric intercity and coach models. Since launch, around 3,300 Lion’s City E #buses have been delivered across Europe, covering 250 million kilometres and cutting an estimated 150,000 tonnes of CO2 compared with diesel vehicles. MAN says expanding its electric range is central to its long-term strategy for sustainable transport. https://press.mantruckandbus.com/corporate/electric-lions-from-ankara-man-ebus-production-launched-at-turkish-bus-plant/

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿📔🚍🚆🚈🚇 The #UK #Government has launched a new national #transport strategy aimed at making journeys across #England simpler, cheaper and better connected. It will give local leaders powers and funding to expand contactless “tap-and-go” travel across #buses, #trains and #trams, building on systems in cities such as #London and #Nottingham. The plan includes over 40 commitments, alongside measures to keep travel affordable, such as fare caps and fuel duty freezes. A new partnership with Google will provide real-time bus tracking via Google Maps, particularly benefiting rural areas. Other initiatives include a £6 million Peak District pilot to better link buses and trains, and expansion of a national parking platform to simplify payments. The strategy also provides £40 million for local transport technology trials and new guidance to help councils deliver joined-up networks. https://dft-newsroom.prgloo.com/news/better-connected-tap-and-go-travel-across-trains-trams-and-buses-announced-in-governments-new-transport-strategy

#Transport for #London Freedom of Information release: #TfL has published a cost breakdown for the Gallows Corner project following an FOI request. Total expenditure to October 2025, including previous years, stood at £51.5m, with a further £15.1m spent between October 2025 and February 2026. The largest costs fall within construction, including contractors and statutory undertakers such as water main works. TfL said some post-October spending relates to work originally scheduled earlier but delayed due to poor ground conditions. The flyover renewal, described as essential for safety and reliability, is now expected to reopen fully by the end of April 2026, with final project costs to be confirmed by spring 2027. https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-4206-2526

🇦🇺 Tasmanians in #Australia can now travel on #Metro #buses free of charge across the state, as part of a government cost-of-living measure aimed at easing pressure on household budgets amid rising fuel prices. The initiative covers all services, including adult, concession, child/student, urban and regional routes, as well as fare-charging government school buses. Passengers are not required to pay or tap their GreenCard; they can simply board and take a seat. Authorities advise allowing extra time for journeys, particularly during peak periods, as demand is expected to increase. Metro says staff are working to maintain reliable services and support new and existing passengers, with the scheme intended to encourage more people to use public #transport. https://metrotas.com.au/communication/blog/2026/free-bus-travel-2026/
