Curious thing I happened upon while checking out the article @jon@gruene.social shared: Effective 1 May, the Správa Železnic, Czechia's infrastructure manager, will stop including the delay reason in station announcements of delayed trains. They justify the decision by saying that, since only one reason could be included (and even that had to be picked from catalog of just 14 options), the announcement cannot be "completely objective" (and, well, also the fact that few countries do it). The zdopravy journalist adds that a particular issue was that, for the purposes of the announcements, delays caused by the train finishing its previous run delayed (the German "Verspätung aus vorheriger Fahrt") were announced as "operational train operating company reasons" even when said delay was actually caused by the infrastructure manager. Once more, for English speakers! Looks like starting this week, #PKPIC has new tariff integrations in the Pomeranian Voivodeship! (No, probably not a joke) On one hand, all PKP IC single tickets between the Tricity (Gdańsk, Sopot or Gdynia) and any station outside of the Pomeranian Voivodeship are now valid on SKMT and Polregio trains within the borders of the three cities for 75 minutes before the scheduled departure or after the scheduled arrival as shown on the ticket. In the arrival case, you'll be able to request a delay certificate from the PKP IC conductor to start the 75 minutes from your actual arrival time (if your departing train is crazy late, you're kind of screwed, however). 🇫🇮 Vantaa, stacja Lentoasema, 27 czerwca 2025. Dwa Flirty na stacji w tunelu pod helsińskim lotniskiem. Na lotnisko Helsinki-Vantaa można dostać się koleją miejską. Linie I oraz P to półokólne, przeciwbieżne linie zaczynające i kończące bieg na stacji Helsinki. Dojazd stamtąd zajmuje około pół godziny, a pociągi kursują przez większość dnia co 10 minut. Linię otwarto w 2015 roku, z rocznym poślizgiem ze względu na konieczność przeprojektowania przebiegu tunelu pod lotniskiem. Powodem były zmiany w strukturze gruntu, wynikające z masowego użycia glikolu do odladzania samolotów. #pociąg #kolej #train #rail #helsinki #stadler

#PKPIC planning to double Kraków-Bielsko-Biała ICs to 8 pairs in 2 hour Takt from 2026/7 timetable, travel time down to 1h10m, 3 pairs running through to Żywiec. @wrzlbrnft@troet.cafe Well, it helps that I happen to know the name already - the line forms part of the "Itto Rokken Ōmawari", as depicted in the second chapter/episode of the manga/anime Tetsuko no Tabi. The Ōmawari is a mad endurance trip exploiting the so-called "Daitoshi Kinkō kukan" tariff rules, allowing JR tickets between stations within certain metropolitan areas to be used with any route, as long as you stay within the area (those generally do not include Shinkansen, aside from two exceptions around Ōsaka, but the spirit of challenge is to avoid buying the necessary supplements anyway), do not break the journey at any point (the endurance part is because you have to make do with the facilities available inside the ticket gates) and do not double-back (you may only pass each station once). The Tōkyō area for the purposes of this rule is gigantic, covering pretty much all of the surrounding prefectures and reaching out all the way to Nagano on the conventional line. This lets you travel something to the tune of 450+ km on the shortest single ticket #JR #Japan #rail
