This chamber has an echo It's the echo of the social contract The echo of consent The echo of consideration The echo of collaboration The echo of a safe space The echo of a silly space The echo of our space ... #mastodon #fediverse #poem

sitting in the dark as the sun rises Sensitive
I sit awake. The birds are calling, but not to me. I languish in the glow of blue. The keys clack. The sun peeks below shuttered eyes outside. Sleep is an unlikely relief. My pulse flows Like honey through my chest, my arms. I arch over my luminous addiction. The birds call. The glow is cold, conniving, indiscriminate. Shuttered eyes obscure warmth. I sit awake. The sun flows like honey through my aluminum cracks. My eyes shutter at the thought. The glow shuts. The eyes close, rattling, metallic, familiar. Obscured sunlight, a reminder that it's another day. I lie awake. #poem #morning #goodnight

I had a nice exchange with @Aphelion@mastodon.sdf.org yesterevening. I like her sparse, short-form poetry…poems that cut to the bone in few words. In appreciation: / Her pencil chisels away unneeded words Words like: Loquaciousness; Prolixity pile at her feet When her lathe-turning is done, what remains is a spindle unadorned And truth / #poetry #poem

I am not okay today. So, in the absences of okay, what else can I be?

I can be gentle. I can be unashamed. I can turn my pain into stillness. I can be awake to nature. I can sharpen my empathy against the stone of discomfort.

I am not okay, but I am many worthy things.

In the Desert by Stephen Crane. (again, sorry). In the desert I saw a creature, naked, bestial, Who, squatting upon the ground, Held his heart in his hands, And ate of it. I said, ‘Is it good, friend?’ ‘It is bitter — bitter,’ he answered; ‘But I like it Because it is bitter, And because it is my heart.’ #art #chickenscratching #depression #drawing #poem #scribble #stephencrane #אומנות #בולשיט #ציור #קישקוש #שירה

Though ravens are strongly linked to the Tower of London, the association may not go back further than Victorian times, when some beefeaters started keeping the birds as pets. Ravens became popular pets thanks to Edgar Allan Poe's famous poem. The idea some misfortune will occur if the ravens leave the Tower seems to have emerged about 1900 and the notion their departure will result in the kingdom falling doesn't seem to predate World War II. However, medieval Welsh legend says that the severed - though still talkative - head of the hero Bran the Blessed was buried on nearby Tower Hill, facing out towards Europe as a talisman against invasion. The name Bran translates as 'raven'. #FairytaleTuesday #folklore #gothic #mythology #poem #poems #poetry #poets #history #London #weird
