Selasin Linkkaria Nuori2026-päivien jälkimainingeissa, ja eteen tuli ainakin tusina selfieitä tai tekoälyllä tehtyjä omakuvia, joissa hymyiltiin toooooodella leveästi kaikki legot näkyvissä. Kuvat eivät siis liittyneet nuorisoalan tapahtumaan, vaan random-postauksia. Jokaisen kohdalla tuli mieleen vain kuvassa näkyvä albumin kansi. Paitsi et Richardilla on enemmän tunnetta mukana hymyssä. #linkedIn #fakeSmiles

Danke fuer euren Support 🙏

WARNING: LinkedIn has your profile. They have more from illegally spying on you. “LinkedIn started injecting malicious code into the browsers of their users, without their knowledge or their consent. At the time of writing, this code downloads a list of 6,222 software products and brute-forces the detection of each one.” More info: https://browsergate.eu/executive-summary/ What you can do: https://browsergate.eu/take-action/ 🧵 1/2 #BrowserGate #LinkedIn #InfoSec #OpSec #Privacy #Crime #YouAreTheProduct #Microsoft

RE: https://federate.social/@jik/116337085538604933 I've been musing for some time that a #Fediverse -based alternative to #LinkedIn might be a good idea.

There is a fresh thing going around about LinkedIn scanning extensions installed in Chrome/Chromium: https://browsergate.eu/

The website claims “LinkedIn is Illegally Searching Your Computer”, and implies the purpose is to find “religious beliefs, political opinions, disabilities”.

tl;dr:

  • yes, LinkedIn is scanning through a list of 6k+ extensions on Chrome;
  • yes, this is bad;
  • but the website is disingenuous in making unnecessarily overblown claims.

🚨 LinkedIn runs a silent browser scan on every Chrome user who visits the site. 6,222 extensions. ~405 million users affected. No consent, no disclosure, no mention in their privacy policy. The scan identifies your sales tools, VPN, ad blocker, job search extensions, and extensions tied to religion, politics, and disability. The full technical breakdown, legal analysis, and searchable database of every scanned extension: https://browsergate.eu #LinkedIn #BrowserGate #privacy

I don’t know why I look at LinkedIn. Ever. Morbid curiosity? Most things need just one comment “Oh, do shut up, you bellend”. #linkedin #ai

Yesterday was the "Digital Independence Day", which I only learned of, today. Coincidentally yesterday I wrote my first blog post in years! I used to be on wordpress.com for nearly a decade, then moved my blogging to #g+ #facebook, #linkedin and co. With the process of shutting down all my #ustech and #bigtech accounts, I felt the need of having a place to myself again, where I could share my thoughts. For now, I've decided to use #zola as a static site generator, which gets hosted to @Codeberg@social.anoxinon.de Here's my successful "Hello, world!" that'll allow me to further my journey towards #digitalindependence as this static site will not only replace my old blogging software, but I plan to replace with it so much more! What a fitting coincidence, to have that post see the light of day on the Digital Independence Day :) https://pygospa.codeberg.page/posts/hello-world/ #zola #wordpresscom #codeberg #woodpeckerci #digitalindependenceday #newblog #newbie #introduction #blogosphere #staticsite #staticsitegenerator #unplugTrump

I recently ended a contract to write copy for a large pediatric research network (ended is probably not accurate... the current government administration gutted funding), and though I have other clients, I wanted to see what other writing jobs were out there. I started with #LinkedIn and was really disappointed by the 3.3% application-to-interview rate on that platform. I can't say I have ever really used it for networking, but I can tell you that only 3.3% rate of job seekers submitting a resume/application on that platform resulting in an interview is REALLY, REALLY bad. Why do people rely on that platform to look for work? #Writing #Copywriting #Advertising #Marketing #JobSearch

I wanted the blue checkmark on LinkedIn. The one that says “this person is real.” In a sea of fake recruiters, bot accounts, and AI-generated headshots, it seemed like a smart thing to do. So I tapped “verify.” I scanned my passport. I took a selfie. Three minutes later — done. Badge acquired. I felt a tiny dopamine hit of legitimacy. Then I did what apparently nobody does. I went and read the privacy policy and terms of service. Not LinkedIn’s. The other company’s. https://thelocalstack.eu/posts/linkedin-identity-verification-privacy/

I was thinking about boundaries and LinkedIn. One day on LinkedIn I saw the same man on my feed twice, once he was complaining when people reject his devil's-advocate comments in their posts, because "you shouldn't be online unless you want to be interacted with" (and that is a very bad take, not far away from lengths of skirt), later that day he was upset that someone had given him a negative comment and he'd had to block them so he wouldn't get "bad comments" that tarnish his profile. That is an interesting interior world view to have. I've adopted a delete comment approach on LinkedIn. When I write about my professional opinions and insights on a professional platform, having some man twenty years my junior who didn't exist for many years yet before the year I started playing video games, I find engaging in bad faith "discourse" a completely meaningless exercise of wasting time, when ten out of ten times these tend to be thinly veiled attacks on my person. Which is not something I want a potential recruiter to read on my professional profile about my person. Deleting a comment is less drastic than blocking someone, and you don't need to have a whole conversation about it. Just delete and proceed with your life. Having boundaries doesn't make you a bad person. It actually gives you more space for yourself physically and mentally, and having that makes you more balanced and self-assured. Calmer. You don't need to take anything online that you wouldn't take on the street in your regular life. #boundaries #settingboundaries #linkedin

Wow, this blog post from @thelocalstack@mastodon.social about getting verified on #Linkedin is pretty shocking: https://thelocalstack.eu/posts/linkedin-identity-verification-privacy/ If you see my name being verified somewhere, you can be pretty sure it won't actually be me, because I wouldn't agree to any of that... 😱

I found this take on #LinkedIn to be so very appropriate. It's another original social media platform that has gone down the toilet in so many ways. Curb your egos, folks. #LinkedInLunatics #Resumes #Enshittification #Dogs

Another European opensource #LinkedIn alternative that integrates with Mastodon and BlueSky: #ponos . Its sourcecode is in French and it contains a CLAUDE.md file, so it's also built with Claude code. https://ponos-job.eu https://gitlab.com/pablopernot/ponos #linkedIn #ai #claude #europeanalternatives #mastodon
