Long-Tailed Tit on a Branch with Lichen I've been spending some time in random London local nature reserves. Sitting and listening, and in fifteen minutes you spot countless species. Did you know? If you want to _mention_ a hashtag like #lichenSubscribe, but you don't want followers of that hashtag to be alerted to your post (because it isn't actually about lichen) you can set the post's “visibility” to “quiet public”? It will still be visible to everyone, including your own followers as usual, it just won't alert strangers who are following the hashtag and it won't show up in searches for that hashtag.

It's Friday! Woohoo! The dancers had a bit of a crisis today, with the first dance they attempted being slightly beyond their capabilities given the time they had to learn it. They will return to it at some point, I am sure, but in the meantime they're clapping some more sparkles into the world. Some more lichen detail from the wooden seat outside the local shop. I think there are examples here of crustose (grey crusty one at the very bottom with raised plateaux), foliose (blue-grey lobed one on the lower right that looks like waves in a storm), leprose (powdery yellow one in the bottom right corner that's growing on something else), and fruticose (grey-green branched one top left) species, all in one shot. These are growing between two of the slats forming the back of the seat, a shadier and more protected spot than the previous post which was of part of the sitting surface of the seat. #LichenSubscribe #MacroPhotography #Photography #Nature #Lichen #NaturePhotography

Lichen on a wooden seat just outside our local corner shop. The seat is pretty heavily colonised by lichen, with different species growing on top, between, and behind the slats. This is a 40 image photo stack, hand held (well, kneeling on the ground and propped against the bench, holding my breath so as to be as wobble-light as possible). #LichenSubscribe #Lichen #MacroPhotography #NaturePhotography #Nature
