Potentially good news for arthritis sufferers. A study on mice found that the loss of cartilage points to a protein called 15-PGDH. The protein becomes more abundant as people age and disrupts healing. But old mice experienced knee cartilage growth with the introduction of a 15-PGDH inhibitor. The features we typically associate with narcissism align closely with traditional male norms. But perhaps we’ve been missing a big part of the picture. Yes, men score higher on certain narcissism traits, but women are just as susceptible. @sciencefocus@flipboard.com explains: https://flip.it/Qn53oD #Science #Humans #Psychology #Brain #Health

The constant ringing in the ears of tinnitus is a severe nuisance to its sufferers. But some hope may be ahead. According to a mouse study by scientists in the U.S. and China, the neurotransmitter serotonin, best known for its role in regulating mood, may also influence the severity of tinnitus, new research has found. [inhales deeply, holds breath] Um... dude... have you ever, like, wondered why, you know, humans don't have tails? As many as 40% of people with high blood pressure are unable to lower their readings despite taking medications. But a new study may offer some hope. Researchers from Brazil and New Zealand pinpointed a region of the brain that can trigger high blood pressure — and perhaps a way to reverse it. #news #America #HotTake Let's not forget that #humans until we see otherwise, are still apart of #humanity and deserve some #dignity as I see it. Whenever #governments take actions against an entire group of people, this is inherently misguided. I do not believe that #beliefs or #religion is to blame. The last words that legendary Apple founder Steve Jobs uttered were “Oh, wow, oh wow, oh wow.” It’s anyone’s guess what spurred Jobs’ comments. But scientists may be closing in on what happens in the final moments of life by gathering data on brain activity from patients who are dying.
