Potentially good news for arthritis sufferers. A study on mice found that the loss of cartilage points to a protein called 15-PGDH. The protein becomes more abundant as people age and disrupts healing. But old mice experienced knee cartilage growth with the introduction of a 15-PGDH inhibitor. A specific example: A family member came to visit and even extended their stay a few days specifically to make my kitchen #accessible, as in #functional, for me. As mentioned, the kitchen has been my 'nerve-centre' for dealing with much of these past few years' cascade of #emergency issues that have been particularly hard on folks like me with no #HeatTolerance and also bonus #LungProblems during #ExtremeHeat and also #Wildfire events. Much of its floorspace was filled with the strata of attending to and doing my best to mitigate these urgent problems, even those that relate to #lease restrictions and #SocialHousing not choosing to upgrade units to meet this new reality. In many ways, this was not a big deal for me: I don't feel safe using the stove/oven (#balance and #tremour issues). My #arthritis doesn't handle preparing cold meat for microwave or toaster-oven cooking, so I eat frozen meals and graze from various pre-prepped options such as crackers. 20/x #accessibility #usability #workflow

Because of course, *I* did not have a meat tenderiser. I had an oddly-specificly-designed thing that pokes holes. Given that I am unlikely to use a meat tenderiser due to #arthritis being incompatible with handling cold meat, the reasonable thing to do is pop that gadget in one of the #decluttering boxes and #donate it to charity. But I had had *some* successes using it purely as a pre-patterned hole-making device, so I said, "It's small, so I will keep it for now." To be clear, this sort of logic is not very helpful in decluttering generally. It would be perfectly fair to talk me into getting rid of it sooner than later, as there are doubtless many objects in my care that are still here for no better reason. Just because one might someday have a purpose for an object is a risky thought pattern for people with #HoardingDisorder, imo. 25/x #objects #things #usefulness #purpose

Seeing the x-rays of my shoulder was interesting. I've had issues for many years, including flare ups of Frozen Shoulder starting in my late 30s, but previous GPs never referred me. Just paracetamol dear. Then tipping over my previous road scooter some years ago, on yet another dodgy dropped kerb, I had an x-ray. The emergency doc thought Id broken it but ortho said no, that's arthritic damage. So it finally went on my record. Today I could see more damage in the joint. The ball part is a curved wavy line instead of an arc. Not surprised, and glad it isn't broken, but evidence for GPs is good. #Arthritis
