Some of my favorite graphics from @Newsela were simple ones showing a simple phenomenon. #scienceillustration #education #geology #physics #sciencefigures #astrophysics

Mauna Kea is located in the Hawaii Islands and it is a dormant shield volcano that last erupted 4,000 to 6,000 years ago. It it is estimated to have formed over 1 million years ago and when measured from the base to the summit, Mauna Kea is the highest mountain on Earth. #Geology

The geology of chocolate bars... It's more than 50 years since we left the Moon and, as far as I can see, we still have no equivalent for the prefix in the word 'Geology', the science of the physical structure of the Earth and its rocks. We have Exo-geology, and lunar geology and planetary geology but no xxxology where xxx is a prefix denoting the study of non-Earths. Who can help me out, here? #Science #Exoplanets #Geology https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/edu/resources/project/describe-rocks-like-a-nasa-scientist/
