We're looking to buy a flail mower (slagleklipper, klepelmaaier) and found Deleks. Their products look decent and compared to others prices are even more so. It's a stretch but maybe someone has experience with them and is willing to share their opinion? https://www.deleks.dk/en/p/1173/flail-mower-smart-800 edit: We decided not to buy a flail mower. As to #Deleks specifically: quality appears "random". Mainly it's warranty service that would worry me as it is reported to be bad. #gardening #forestry #woodland #machines

We got the "Stihl FSA 135". With our use it is likely to last for the rest of our life. While it comes with a strimmer head (using nylon wire*) we'll be using it with a metal cutting disk as not to pollute the woodland with untold bits of #microplastics. I'm looking forward to do some testing this weekend :-) *There's no such thing as biodegradable trimmer wire. #podcast tip: the @plastisphere@podcasts.social episode about microplastics in soil: https://anjakrieger.com/2021/04/27/welcome-to-the-plastisphere/ 2/2 #gardening #woodland

Looking forward to the heady scent of Ransoms accompanying springtime woodland walks at locations like this in East Durham, NE England. Better known as 'Wild Garlic', I was surprised to discover the plant goes by quite a few other names. One such name is cow's leek as seemingly cows love to eat them. I was reading that down in Devon, dairy farmers have occasionally had the milk of their herds rejected because of the garlic flavour imparted to it by the cows having grazed upon the plant. I'm sure, with appropriate promotion, there is a marketing opportunity somewhere for garlic-flavoured milk! #england #durham #spring #march2026 #ramsons #countryside #woodland #photography

You'll struggle to make out anything in "Today's Image" at https://rustonhouse.org.uk/ It was taken on 14 March 2014 and shows part of what was to become "The New Path" in the grounds of our old home. The second image is the same sight 16 months later. You can find out more about the first image at https://rustonhouse.org.uk/grounds/2014/140325gooddayswork.php and you can see how things developed in Part Three of the first tour of the grounds made 16 months later, found at: https://rustonhouse.org.uk/tours/150709/part03.php #woodland #wild #country #countryside #management #chainsaw #norfolk

Heading towards the last weekend of February and it has been good to get out and about as the weather begins to pick up from all the miserable stuff thrown our way since the start of the New Year. I was busy composing a view of a long straight woodland path that heads down towards the Durham Heritage Coast this week when I heard approaching footsteps from behind. A gentleman passed by wearing a bright red jacket which added a great splash of contrasting colour to the woodland hues – perfect timing! Quite looking forward to saying hello to March, the month of the spring equinox, the clocks going forward and the longer hours of daylight. #england #durham #woodland #countryside #february #photography
