Do men or women have worse farts? Science has the answer. https://www.washingtonpost.com/wellness/2026/04/07/why-do-farts-smell/?utm_source=flipboard&utm_content=Econopass%2Fmagazine%2FFLIPBOARD+EXCHANGE+FEED+%F0%9F%97%9E%EF%B8%8F Added bonus: Here’s why air travel tends to make people gassy. The following is an excerpt from “You’ve Been Pooping All Wrong,” by Trisha Pasricha, MD, MPH, which will be published on Tuesday. Science has finally settled the age-old debate of whose farts smell worse — men or women. But to appreciate … #science #farts #washingtonpost

yahoo news | ‘Calling… Epstein Island’: Journalists Phoning White House Get Quite the Surpris... Reporters from The Washington Post’s Style section were dialing the White House switchboard to ask about First Lady Melania Trump’s outfit when, on many Android phones, the caller‑ID label displayed “Epstein Island” — the nickname for Jeffrey Epstein’s Little St. James. The phone number itself was correct; only the name attached to it was wrong, leading the journalists to wonder why the White House was being associated with the convicted pedophile’s Caribbean island. The glitch was traced to a brief “fake edit” in Google Maps that was pulled into Google’s call‑screening feature. The edit erroneously linked the White House number to the island’s name, affecting Android devices while iPhone callers saw no such label. After the Post reported the problem, Google confirmed the violation of its policy, reversed the change, blocked the responsible user, and by Friday the erroneous label no longer appeared. The incident comes at a time of renewed scrutiny of former President Donald Trump’s past connections to Epstein, especially after the release of the “Epstein files.” Trump has said he knew Epstein socially before a falling‑out but has always denied any knowledge of the financier’s criminal activities. The story was first published on Mediaite. RE: https://journa.host/@samlitzinger/116177147514646177 I've had it with the #NewYorkTimes and their never-ending "both sides-ism." The paper obviously has thrown the mission of #journalism under the bus in its desire to pander to conservatives. It is not much better, IMHO, than the Bezos #WashingtonPost. #journalists #media #EpicFail #usa "The fundamental mission of journalism is to provide citizens with accurate, vetted, and timely information, enabling them to make informed decisions about their lives, communities, and governments. It acts as a watchdog to hold power accountable, gives voice to the voiceless, and fosters democracy. " Society of Professional Journalists https://www.spj.org/spj-code-of-ethics/

Last week's cuts at The Washington Post were even worse than initially reported. An accounting by the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild, the union that represents Post journalists, says nearly half the paper's newsroom was eliminated. Just read this sobering retrospective from @NiemanLab on Jeff Bezos and the Washington Post. It tracks the arc from 2013—when Bezos was the "badass" billionaire savior of journalism—to February 2026, where he has largely gone silent during a "bloodbath" of layoffs (30% of the newsroom) and a pivot toward "free market" editorializing. The piece highlights: The 300+ jobs cut yesterday (Feb 4), including bureaus and the Amazon reporter. The shift from "curious steward" to distant owner. How the 2024 non-endorsement was just the start of a broader "preemptive obedience" to power. It’s a case study in how quickly a "pillar of democracy" can be hollowed out when its ownership priorities shift. "When the Washington Post reporter's home was searched, her computer, her phone were seized, and The owner of the Washington Post, Jeff Bezos, said nothing. He still has said nothing. This is the reaction you get from legacy media when their reporters are abused." #DonLemon #GeorgiaFort #Trump #media #journalists #FirstAmendment #normalization #JeffBezos #WashingtonPost /10

"The fact that independent media now has such a great burden to carry is both our privilege, our obligation, and a sad commentary on what's happened to the legacy media. Now, I want to point something out, the dog that did not bark." ~ Jennifer Rubin #DonLemon #GeorgiaFort #Trump #media #journalists #FirstAmendment #normalization #JeffBezos #WashingtonPost /9 https://contrarian.substack.com/p/live-april-ryan-on-don-lemon-arrest

Media expert @Edeggans@flipboard.com takes a look at what's going on with CBS News and The Washington Post. "History has shown that journalism has often needed wealthy, civic-minded patrons willing to support the efforts of trained and experienced professionals who can deliver accurate information to the public," he writes in his Switching Codes newsletter. "Time for the wealthiest people in this country — and on this planet — to do more than protect their bottom lines while our journalism infrastructure burns." https://flip.it/ZOygZx #Media #Journalism #WashingtonPost #CBSNews
