Apple CEO Tim Cook recently announced that he’ll step down in September, paving the way for Senior VP of Hardware Engineering John Ternus to take the reins. “Under Cook, the company has become less surprising but massively financially successful; some of Apple’s newer products have flopped or underperformed, but far more have become and stayed excellent thanks to years of competent iteration,” tech reporter Andrew Cunningham writes for @ArsTechnica@flipboard.com. From a hardware success like the Apple Watch to a big swing that missed, here are six things from the Cook era that stand out to Cunningham: https://flip.it/y8YnGw #Tech #Apple #TimCook #Technology #Business #TechNews

Great news, the Moto G Stylus is no longer teeming with bloatware A phone for people who like pens. The 2026 edition of Motorola's stylus phone is plenty appealing. FSF says OnlyOffice cannot use AGPLv3 to add extra fork restrictions, including mandatory branding retention in Euro-Office dispute. ⚖️ It argues AGPL guarantees downstream freedom, so forked versions may remove logos or attribution constraints beyond license terms. 🔓 @fsfe@mastodon.social @fsf@hostux.social @ONLYOFFICE@fosstodon.org 🔗 https://linuxiac.com/fsf-says-onlyoffice-cannot-use-agpl-to-restrict-forks/ #TechNews #FSF #FSFE #OnlyOffice #AGPLv3 #OpenSource #FOSS #Licensing #EU #Europe #EuroOffice #SoftwareFreedom #Forks #Copyleft #Legal #Linux #Transparency #DigitalRights

Most text-to-speech tools fall into two camps. The ones that sound good need serious hardware. The ones that run on anything sound robotic. MOSS-TTS-Nano is trying to be neither. It’s a 100M parameter model that runs on a regular CPU and it actually sounds good. Good enough that the team behind it built an entire family of speech models around the same core technology, one of which has gone head to head with Gemini 2.5 Pro and ElevenLabs https://firethering.com/moss-tts-nano-open-source-tts/ #technews #ai #tts #llm #genai

The FCC moved to ban foreign-made routers in the U.S. last month, and this week Netgear became the first company to secure an exemption, even though its devices are manufactured in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and Taiwan. CNET has the details on what the ban means for your home network. https://flip.it/NWHZU1 For more on cybersecurity and data hacks please follow our Magazine: https://flipboard.com/@tech/cybersecurity-and-data-hacks-5n8kruo2y #Cybersecurity #NationalSecurity #FCC #TechNews

Chinese #semiconductor firms reported record revenue in 2025, driven by strong demand for #AIchips, a global memory chip shortage, and U.S. export restrictions. While these factors have boosted domestic chipmakers, #China still faces challenges in matching the technological capabilities of leading global players due to limited access to advanced manufacturing tools. https://www.cnbc.com/2026/04/03/chinese-chip-firms-record-revenue-ai-boom-us-curbs.html?eicker.news #China #Tech #ChinaTech #Technews

DDR5 RAM prices are finally showing signs of relief—dropping by as much as 30% in select cases. However, this is not a true market correction, but rather a temporary fluctuation within a much larger supply crisis. Recent price dips are largely tied to emerging technologies like Google’s TurboQuant, which could reduce AI memory demand. Yet the broader reality remains unchanged: AI data centers continue to dominate DRAM supply, keeping overall availability tight and prices historically elevated. Even with recent declines, DDR5 kits are still 3–4× higher than pre-2025 levels, and inventory remains constrained. In short, what we are seeing is stabilization—not recovery. The “memory shortage era” is far from over, and volatility will likely persist through 2026 and beyond. https://www.notebookcheck.net/DDR5-RAM-prices-fall-by-as-much-as-30-but-memory-shortage-likely-far-from-over.1263431.0.html #DDR5 #RAM #MemoryMarket #AIInfrastructure #Semiconductors #TechNews #Hardware #Datacenter #AI #SupplyChain

From navigation to cheating in exams, early adopters of AI glasses in China are renting them for as little as $6 a day. Some models offer live translation, real-time calorie tracking, and theater-like movie experiences, but not everyone is sold on the new tech, even as the government encourages citizens to buy it. https://flip.it/S5xbth #AI #AIGlasses #TechNews #Tech

AI-generated content is trickling into political ad campaigns, from school board bids to governor's races. The technology is being used to enhance speech, turn politicians into cartoons and mimic rival's voices and often without AI disclaimers, sparking concerns that everyday voters could easily be misled. https://flip.it/q4wY3g #TechNews #AI #Politics #USNews

The Hidden “AI Tax”: Why Your Next Smartphone is Shockingly Expensive (And How to Beat the System in 2026) You are ready for an upgrade. Your battery drains by lunchtime, your apps are lagging, and you walk into a store expecting a massive leap in technology. Instead, you are greeted by eye-watering prices for devices that look and perform suspiciously like the phone you bought three years ago. You are not imagining this stagnation, and it is not just standard inflation. You are paying the “AI Tax.” The explosive, worldwide growth of Artificial Intelligence has created a severe global component shortage, and it is quietly reshaping the consumer electronics market. Here is exactly why your tech is getting more expensive, the paradox at the heart of the industry, and how you can protect your wallet. The next time you purchase a new smartphone or laptop, you might be in for an unpleasant surprise: significantly higher prices for hardware that feels suspiciously similar to last year’s models. The driving force behind this shift is the explosive, worldwide growth of Artificial Intelligence. The rapid advancement of AI data centers has created what industry experts call an “AI Tax”—a severe global component shortage that is hitting the wallets of everyday consumers. https://www.nbloglinks.com/the-hidden-ai-tax-how-to-beat-rising-tech-prices-in-2026/ #AI #technews #techprices #AItax #business #smartphones #AInews #AIData

Euvic, the Polish IT group, has entered Warsaw's NewConnect alternative market through merger with eo Networks. Trading as EUVIC since January 16, 2026. Current share price: 25 PLN. Market capitalization: approximately 1 billion PLN ($250 million). The Ukrainian dimension: Euvic is systematically building a local IT ecosystem targeting 400-700 specialists through acquisitions (Exoft, Artkai, 7Devs, Lampa Software). January 2025 saw the first PFR TFI investment in Ukraine supporting this consolidation. March 5, 2026: Euvic Ukraina sp. z o.o. acquired 100% of Moretime Finland Oy for €1.85 million base price plus up to €1 million earn-out based on 2026-2027 performance. This transforms the Ukrainian structure from delivery platform to M&A instrument in European markets — a significant precedent for Ukrainian IT integration into public European groups. https://vir.group/ #Euvic #UkraineIT #PolishBusiness #MergersAndAcquisitions #TechNews #WarsawStockExchange
