How come when people answer to a DM or also a CW why answers aren't automatically hidden or private by default. Very impractical and super bad. Could this be fixed in coming versions of Mastodon, like in the main code/protocol if there is one? #fedihelp #mastohelp #fediadmin

Fedi admins, you may want to defederate mastodon.cloud There's a scammer registered on mastodon.cloud who is currently spamming people all over the Fediverse (https://digipres.club/@timixretroplays/116400799417215833) Mastodon.cloud seems to be an unmoderated instance with open registration. It hasn't responded to multiple previous abuse reports (https://social.growyourown.services/@FediTips/115027459008099476) The admin of mastodon.cloud hasn't posted since February 2023 and its server software is very out of date. #FediBlock #FediAdmin #MastodonCloud

In the past, I've tried using #redis sentinel for this #mastodon instance. But looks like there is a long standing bug on rubby with redis sentinel. I don't know if it has been resolved now. But I think I found a quick resolve for this problem, using a redis proxy whose support sentinel. And one of my candidate is enriclluelles's redis-sentinel-proxy https://github.com/enriclluelles/redis-sentinel-proxy Will try it soon. There is 3rd party container image at https://hub.docker.com/r/patrickdk/redis-sentinel-proxy #fediadmin

The creator is making pretty clear that it's designed this way to make it harder to block. Normally, you'd expect an LLM scraper to have a single (blockable) ActivityPub account doing the scraping. This is designed so that everybody who uses the service has their identities harvested to steal people's data on the app's behalf. #FediBlock #FediAdmin

If you feed somebody's posts into your shitty LLM without an explicit and reversible opt-in, you are violating the consent of fedi users. This "Zeitgeist" app not only violates consent, but it also doesn't have a centralized ActivityPub identity that can be blocked or defederated. #FediAdmin #Fediblock https://alpaca.gold/@seldo/116229243453108157

https://zeitgeist.blue is a multi-social-network app that summarizes your feed for the last 24 hours to let you catch up with doomscrolling. Now with support for Mastodon!

I keep suspending a bot account but then it appears again anyway. Is this a known bug in #Misskey? #fediadmin

Something I believe may be warrant discussion is how each instance is beholden to the rules of another by virtue of federation. Something that has given way to vibes-based reporting which our administrator has been unable to act on. This has, unfortunately, resulted in the slander of our instance. Branded as allegedly being "anti-moderation" and "bigoted" for choosing not to punish their users over frivolous reports or engage in the fediblock of the more fringe or controversial instances on here ourselves. So Fedizens, what are your thoughts?
