@BenRiceM@mastodon.social My lukewarmish take is that she's the model we all need to gently be for each other, especially right now. In my current role, my employer emphasizes customer service above all else. It's not hard if you open your heart. That part is hard as fuck, but once you do it, the rest comes easy. I get satisfaction from it because it's the polar opposite of what I'm being told I SHOULD do from those in authority, and that appeals to my anti-authoritarian tendencies. #empathy

After 15 years of friendship, I have found that explaining neurotypical behavioral patterns and thought processes to my friend with Asperger's Syndrome is not only pretty fun, but also helps me to examine and question the thoughts and actions of myself and others - which is always useful. Generally, our actions and decisions are based on things that make sense to us at the time. But key to developing the skill of #empathy is realizing that we all begin with different starting points - the decisions we make are shaped by different cultural contexts, life experiences, and even neurochemistry. What seems "logical" to ourselves is not necessarily true for other people. Thus, being friends with people with different life experiences, backgrounds, and even neurotype can be very rewarding, as long as you all make an effort to understand each others' perspective. #autism

@autistics . I think I realized something when I saw that the first toot here needed explaining and then wrote the second one, that I assumed everything in the second one was understood when I wrote the first one. That every sentence I write needs a paragraph to explain it, I mean I know I’m decades down the tracks on a divergent in the first place train of thought. . In my dreams, this would be what Trivers said about E. O. Wilson, whereas others speak in a melody, one note after the other, I’m speaking in chords, LOL. Only to myself, of coarse! Surely doesn’t count if no-one else can hear the music, which, boy howdy! . I think it’s either the endless Autistic infodump, or it’s this incomprehensible shorthand. 😳 . I am sorry. Spotkałem się w Internecie z dwoma różnymi tematycznie informacji, które paradoksalnie połączył jakiś rodzaj pogardy. Pierwszy news: Pączki z pewnego marketu, nie będę reklamował, w tym roku ich nie jadłem. Tak, miałem ten komfort że poszedłem sobie do lokalnej piekarni i kupiłem trzy sztuki za 12 złotych. Ponoć tanio, nie wiem, poza kokosowym to marmoladowy i pistacjowy mi smakowały. W pewnym markecie, przez jakiś okres czasu, pączki hulały po groszu. Podejrzewam że opakowanie do nich było więcej warte. I spotkałem się w Internecie z opiniami "kto to je?", "kim trzeba być żeby to jeść", "kto to kupuje?". A znam takich. Fakt, część to "janusze" ale też to seniorzy, którym nie do końca styka do pierwszego a zużywają więcej ciepła z racji słabego krążenia. Ludzie zarabiający okolice minimalnej z której trzeba opłacić wynajem i jedzenie. Dla nich wydatek powyżej złotówki/dwóch za pączka to fanaberia na którą sobie nie mogą pozwolić. Drugi news: Onet na swojej poczcie ma wprowadzić obsługę IMAP wyłącznie dla płatnych kont. Tak, mam ten komfort że płacę sobie euro miesięcznie za Posteo i że pewnie kiedyś wrócę na iCloud. I opinie: "jakim boomerem trzeba być żeby korzystać z Onetu", "tylko gmail", "kto z tego korzysta?". Zwykli ludzie dla których płacenie za maila jest fanaberią. Albo którzy nie mają "czystych" adresów na Gmailu czy Outlooku. Ale też i ci którzy nie kleją do końca Internetu, którzy założyli w 2009 maila na Onecie i z niego korzystają bo działa. I których też niekiedy zwyczajnie nie stać na fanaberię jaką może się wydawać Posteo. I w sumie też mógłbym zadać złośliwie pytanie: to wy jesteście lepsi bo nie potraficie funkcjonować bez Facebooka? Gubicie bez dostępu do Google'a? Albo jesteście lepsi bo wasz mail to jakieś jk598@gmail.com? (adres wymyślony) Nie ma co się wywyższać. Nie wiesz czy kiedyś będziesz czekać by kupić sobie kilka pączków po grosz za sztukę. Nie wiesz czy kiedyś nie opuścisz swojego opłaconego maila i pogodzisz się z Onetem czy Interią. #empatia #empathy
