Today's weather was really nice and the #assenliggers went for a bike ride as we do on Sundays. @twilwel@mastodon.nl, @TheoZw@mastodon.nl and Gert provided the excellent company today. My personal target for today was to reach a total of 0.08 Gm on the bike computer in my Mango velomobile, which was reached a few km before I got home. 84 km in total. I have a proposal to prevent this.

  1. The most senior UK google exec takes the ponts and fines for any offence.
  2. The fines are proportional to income. 3.once banned from driving, the next most senior exec has to take the points.

@dangillmor@mastodon.social TBH, I'd consider any Cyclist poppin' 9x19mm +P+ SJHP (regular 9mm.won't go through tires) into any of those shit vehicles' tires an act of "self & mutual defense" against murder by car… Or just place Calthrops on the markings if not sprinkle them before said cars. #Sarcasm #Commentary #NotLegalAdvice #Waymo #CarBrain #CarCentrism #cycling #safety #RoadSafety

I've just washed my e-bike and given it a good looking over for wear or damage. Everything seems fine but, as I've never had an e-bike before, I thought I should check the user handbook to see if they recommend any specific checks or maintenance. I now know that I have RIM WEAR INDICATORS! Woo! What wizardry is this?! I've just checked my cheapy Decathlon folder and that has them too. My Raleigh Amazon doesn't, so this technology must've come in some time in the last 40 years. You look away for 10 minutes and BAM! everything has changed. I'd actually thought that the Decathlon bike just had really soft rims. 😄 #Cycling #Bike

To 50% Ords on the way home from work, to collect some parts. Most of it "fitted" in the pannier bag but I was left with 2 boxed folding tyres, so after carrying them out of the shop so I didn't look too dodgy, I stuffed them down the front of my jersey for the ride home like two enormous oblong breasts. #cycling #BikeToot #velophant #innovation #CarryAVulgarTermForExcrementOlympics

The sun is shining, the children have gone back to school, the term time queue has formed, and there is a bus parked in the bike lane. 65k subscriber #bike shop posts fake video on how to change a bike tube. The video is the #5 video for "change bike tube" in the YouTube search as of this writing. This kind of misinformation is disgusting, especially when we desperately need literal billions of people to start biking to mitigate #climate change. Classic bike bro elitism that sours me on an entire mode of transport. This attitude is disturbingly common. So #BikeTooter seems very excited by this noise-cancelling headphone negating bell, but I don't get it. Pedestrians have priority. End of. They don't need to hear you. Many can't hear you even if they wanted to. Thinking that dinging a bell comes with an expectation of a clear run is no different to drivers honking a horn and expecting cyclists to get out the road. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ #Cycling #BikeTooter
