Masto Re-Introduction I'm a Linux Administrator and DevOps Engineer, foss & self-host enthusiast, linux gamer, BSD weirdo, and producer of electronic music. Also have an interest learning more about philosophy, left-wing anarchism/syndicalism/mutualism and decentralized systems (outside of crypto context). Looking to connect with anyone who regularly posts about or engages in those types of interests. #introduction #linux #linuxgaming #bsd #electronicmusic #anarchism #decentralization #foss

@pointlessone@status.pointless.one I have a hard time builing #AdaLang LSP on #OpenBSD. It makes me want to abandon the whole "switch to #BSD" idea and stick to the old boring #Debian Stable...

@leoschuldiner23@beige.party I'm with ya! I am a strong advocate for the used #thinkpad market - incredible #Linux (and #bsd?) machines for any budget $50 or bigger. I'm running a radio station server (backup) on a 2006 thinkpad. It just always works. Insane. Do people know about this?

💻 FreeBSD is serious about laptop support in 2026. The new FreeBSD Laptop Matrix tracks real hardware compatibility — ThinkPad, Framework, Dell XPS. ZFS native, Capsicum security, no telemetry. Here's how to get started and what to expect. Read: https://newsgroup.site/freebsd-laptop-compatibility-guide-2026/ #FreeBSD #BSD #Linux #OpenSource #Privacy

@Larvitz@burningboard.net Ah, thanks for the explanation 👍 I kind of figured that after writing the post. Some Linux distributions do similar things. Desktop Installer sounds excellent 👍 The current script is garbage. #BSD
