The Minister of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan, Nuruddin Azizi, met with the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khajaev, during his visit to the country. The Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced that during the meeting, the two officials discussed the construction of an export center for Afghan products in Balkh province and the mechanism for the center. Mr. Azizi thanked Uzbekistan for inviting Afghanistan to participate in the International Industrial Exhibition and requested the creation of more facilities for commercial transit and Afghanistan's exports to Uzbekistan. Nooruddin Azizi, Minister of Industry and Commerce of Afghanistan, held a meeting with Jamshid Khajayev, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, during his visit to Uzbekistan. The two sides discussed facilitating trade, transit, and export operations from Afghanistan to Uzbekistan. Talks also covered organizing visits by Uzbek provincial governors to Afghanistan according to a defined schedule, as well as establishing an export center for Afghanistan’s products in Balkh province and outlining its operational mechanism. The Prime Minister’s Economic Deputy has announced that plans for a commercial market and a modern factory for electricity generation from waste were discussed at a meeting of the inter-ministerial investment committee in Kabul’s first district. The Deputy stated that proposals for the assembly and gradual production of tractors and agricultural machinery in Kandahar, Herat, and Balkh provinces were also presented at the meeting. A campaign to combat locust infestations has been launched by the Department of Agriculture, Balkh province, in several districts of the province.
