Curious thing I happened upon while checking out the article @jon@gruene.social shared: Effective 1 May, the Správa Železnic, Czechia's infrastructure manager, will stop including the delay reason in station announcements of delayed trains. They justify the decision by saying that, since only one reason could be included (and even that had to be picked from catalog of just 14 options), the announcement cannot be "completely objective" (and, well, also the fact that few countries do it). The zdopravy journalist adds that a particular issue was that, for the purposes of the announcements, delays caused by the train finishing its previous run delayed (the German "Verspätung aus vorheriger Fahrt") were announced as "operational train operating company reasons" even when said delay was actually caused by the infrastructure manager. This must have no doubt caused a serious issue with compensation claims at some point. https://zdopravy.cz/hlaseni-na-nadrazich-ceka-dalsi-zmena-bude-kratsi-zmizi-14-ruznych-vet-278042/ #Czechia #Rail #SŽDC #SpravaZeleznic #kolej

Czechia has reshaped the geopolitical scene. A February 2026 CVVM survey shows 81% view Poland as the top ally, followed by Germany (66%), France (62%), and the UK (59%). Trust in the US has dropped to 23%, with Russia at just 4%. The focus is on regional autonomy and Slavic unity over Atlantic ties. Poland is now seen as the regional leader, surpassing the US. A new European order is emerging in Prague, sidelining Washington. #Geopolitics #Europe #Czechia

Meanwhile #PKPIC is lending ED250s (its Pendolino sets) to České Dráhy for the kind of tests I associate more with urban transit, but are apparently a standard part of the Czech approval process. Starting March 9 (Monday after timetable change in Poland), a Polish Pendolino will run a pair of SuperCity trains between Bohumín and Prague - the early morning SC 516 to Prague, returning as the afternoon SC 511. It will be staffed by Czech drivers and conductors, but bistro car service will be Polish. The units involved will still run and be maintained in Poland - each night, a unit ending its day in Bielsko-Biała will travel empty to Bohumín and the other way around. This arrangement is expected to continue until June 17 (a few days after the next Polish timetable change): https://www.rynek-kolejowy.pl/wiadomosci/pendolino-pkp-intercity-w-czechach-z-czeska-zaloga-od-9-marca-126 #ČD #Czechia #Pendolino #ČeskéDráhy #rail #kolej
