Today in 1945, American forces liberate the Buchenwald concentration camp.
Edward R. Murrow toured the camp soon after and filed perhaps his most moving WWII radio report on April 15th.
He needed the time to process the horror he’d seen.
It was heard on CBS, whose #radio news operation is scheduled to end next month.

Auch wenn die #bayern so stolz drauf sind, ein Freistaat zu sein, weiß doch kaum jemand, wer ihn ausgerufen hat und sein 1. Ministerpräsident war: Kurt Eisner, linker Sozialdemokrat mit jüdischen Wurzeln. Völlig überraschend ist jetzt Eisners Schreibmaschine aufgetaucht. Ihre Geschichte spiegelt die bayr. Kuuntelen aina Kalle Haatasen. Hänellä on tapana lopettaa ohjelma sanoin "Suuret kiitokset keskustelusta, N. N. Oli ilo!"
Usein käy niin, että keskustelukumppani kiittää kiitoksista heti ensimmäisen lauseen jälkeen ja tulee puhuneeksi "oli ilon" päälle. Hän ei siis tuntene Haatasen käytäntöä, sanoo vain niin kuin hyviin tapoihin kuuluu. Olen alkanut stressata tätä tilannetta etukäteen.
On ymmärrettävää, että omiin juttuihinsa syventynyt asiantuntija ei välttämättä ehdi kuunnella Haatasen aiempia jaksoja. Mutta eikö Haatanen voisi vihjata tästä tavasta etukäteen? Ilmeisesti hän ei kehtaa.
Kuitenkin Haatanen itse editoinee jaksot, minkä päättelen siitä, että joskus tulee hyvinkin lyhyin väliajoin "täällä on tänään vieraana N. N. ja puhumme siitä ja siitä". Eikö hän voisi ottaa loppua uusiksi, jos päällepuhunta sattuu?
