Jesse Jackson’s misdiagnosis of Parkinson’s is common – new genetic discovery could lead to treatment for this deadly disease - Like Rev. Jackson, they misdiagnosed me and it took them a long time to DX my Multiple System Atrophy. RIP Rev. Jackson. The "Parkinson's" part of these illnesses are just foreplay for the disease that is to come. are characterized by the primary features of Parkinson disease, including bradykinesia, ataxia, resting tremor, and rigidity but also include additional features, depending on which subset. I will be glad when they break Parkinson-plus syndromes away from Parkinson's completely. Many doctors don't even know what they are and they are becoming more common. COVID research is leading to new discoveries and treatment of PPS. One area seeing strides is POTS. There was no money for POTS in medical research until COVID made it a standard ailment of Long COVID. Parkinson-plus syndromes include multiple system atrophy (MSA) (formerly known as Shy–Drager syndrome), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), and corticobasal degeneration (CBD), Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), Pick's disease and olivopontocerebellar atrophy. #Parkinsons #MSA #Neurology #MedMastodon https://theconversation.com/jesse-jacksons-misdiagnosis-of-parkinsons-is-common-new-genetic-discovery-could-lead-to-treatment-for-this-deadly-disease-276944 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkinson-plus_syndrome https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK585113/

Even though I can't swallow due to #dysphagia related to my #Parkinsons plus MSA, I just spent a few minutes gargling a shot of Black Label Scotch. It's my "treat." Every now and then I do it because I like the taste. Every day, I do it with strong, hot coffee that is as hot as I can stand it. When Penny eats her dinner, I also join her at the table, and the place setting, esp if we have company, is similar to this previous image I posted. I also have a kit like this for if we go out to dinner to a restaurant. I have a long extension that comes out from under my shirt and I then push my meal through, at a "bite" pace similar to the other people eating food.

@dulcedemon@beige.party That's good news. I was looking at the chart and from my experience, that middle phase was horrendous. All the medical tests, and nothing being found, and the implied insults about lifestyle changes, as one by one, the body systems became affected. A blood test is a welcome advancement. #Parkinsons
