📰 "#CERN będzie gospodarzem flagowej europejskiej platformy wydawniczej opartej na zasadach otwartego dostępu #OpenAccess W ramach ważnego kroku na rzecz otwartej nauki CERN został wybrany na gospodarza nowego etapu inicjatywy Open Research Europe (ORE), wspieranej przez Komisję Europejską oraz nowe konsorcjum finansujące, w skład którego wchodzą europejskie krajowe agencje finansujące i organizacje badawcze. Inicjatywa ta, zgodna z planem działania na rzecz otwartego dostępu typu „Diamond” (2022) [1], stanowi kierowaną przez społeczność alternatywę dla tradycyjnego publikowania naukowego. Kiedy nowa platforma ORE zostanie uruchomiona jeszcze w tym roku, uprawnienia autorskie zostaną rozszerzone o naukowców powiązanych z instytucjami w krajach uczestniczących w konsorcjum. Publikowanie pozostanie całkowicie bezpłatne zarówno dla naukowców finansowanych przez Komisję Europejską, jak i autorów z krajów uczestniczących. Celem jest promowanie równości, różnorodności i przejrzystości w komunikacji naukowej przy zachowaniu wysokich standardów jakości i rzetelności. Konsorcjum finansujące ORE składa się obecnie z członków z Austrii, Francji, Niemiec, Włoch, Holandii, Norwegii, Portugalii, Słowenii, Hiszpanii, Szwecji i Szwajcarii [2]. Komisja Europejska uczestniczy w pracach organu zarządzającego jako stały obserwator i zapewnia dedykowane wsparcie finansowe. CERN zapewni infrastrukturę techniczną i operacyjną platformy, opartą na oprogramowaniu open source Open Journal Systems (OJS), natomiast zarządzanie i nadzór redakcyjny pozostaną w gestii konsorcjum ORE." Auch in den Geisteswissenschaften wächst das Interesse an Open-Source-Lösungen und auch an #Linux. Grund dafür ist die Kritik an #Datenoligarchie, das gewachsene Interesse an #DigitaleSouveränität und die #OpenScience -Bewegung. Hier auf Mastodon ist die Linuxnutzendendichte sicher hoch, trotzdem dachte ich, ich berichte mal ein wenig von meinen eigenen Erfahrungen. Vielleicht hilft es ja anderen bei ihrer Entscheidung, es doch mal auszuprobieren. (1/7)

I figured someone, somewhere, is trying to grow food that doesn’t murder the soil. Someone has terabytes of wildlife camera monitoring and drowning in footage. Someone has a brilliant idea and absolutely no software skills or budget. Maybe we can help. We’re just people who can code, but maybe “just people who can code” might be exactly what someone needs right now. We’re already collaborating with some rewilding projects, and we’d like to do more of it and meet more people trying to do things that matter. The few people we talked to, who are fighting the important fights, are using broken tools, or no tools at all. Maybe we can be of use to people protecting and restoring ecosystems, innovating sustainable food systems, or those tracking what’s actually happening to the living world around us. We don’t have all the answers. I don’t even have most of the questions most days, and I’m trying my best to learn. But we’re good at software, we can build things that work, and we’d rather build things that matter. To end this thread, I’m casting a wide net but if you’re trying to save one specific part of the world and software is the thing standing between you and doing it better—please talk to us!
