Responding out loud to contentious items on the radio is a constant hazard for the politically engaged. I am no exception. Listening to Sajid Javid, the former Home Secretary for the #Nastiz, I heard him plugging his book on #R4Today As he talked about his father's reaction to him being banged up for petty theft in Bristol's Bridewell Police Station, I blurted out, "I know it well!" "... I used to pick up their post, when I worked for Royal Mail," I sheepishly added. #Tories #GoodRiddance

Yet another of the #Nastiz (formerly the Conservative & Unionist Party) defects to #ReformUK. After 14 years of misrule by the #Tories, the British voters finally said 'Enough is enough' in 2024 and resoundingly threw the whole bunch of chancers out of power and out of Parliament. Morning, all, Matthew D'Ancona writes that an electoral pact between the Conservatives and Reform might put Nigel Farage in No.10. He nicknames this pact "Conform" but also toys with "Reservative." I prefer "Reformatory," which OLD* says is "a type of school that young criminals are sent to instead of prison." Meanwhile... on this side of the Pond, Labour is planning to end the ancient right to Jury Trial in millions of court cases. 12 Angry Men to be replaced by 3 Maddened Kangaroos? When, after 14 years, we finally got rid of the #Nastiz, we all hoped their authoritarian 'reforms' would be reversed by the new #HMG. Yet again, we are being sorely disappointed.
