@FediFollows@social.growyourown.services you ought to include the contacts of #opensource champions like the #developers of #linux #distros like #mxlinux #linuxMint #debian #archlinux, #developers of some prime #mastodon instances, #piefed instances, #codeberg , #github and email services like #mailo and #proton. That way, we would be able to reach out to them through #socialmedia whenever we need their support. This informal channel is oftentimes better than your regular email.

As an former Ubuntu fan boy, for well over a decade, I second the recommendation of MXlinux over Ubuntu. Lighter weight and Debian base is great. It is also friendly to Linux newbies with helpful tools, community and documentation. I use Devuan on many of my computers, which is also based on Debian. #Linux #Debian #Devuan #mxLinux

For Linux newbies, the Debian installer may be a bit challenging (at least it used to be). So mxLinux wins there. The Devuan installers are also not Linux newbie friendly, but I really like the TUI based Devuan Server installer and then choose a desktop environment as one of the last steps. I chose Devuan because I am interested in not having SystemD. Debian is also good, but for ease of use and installation I would usually recommend Linux Mint Debian Edition to a Linux Newbie would wants to run Debian. So I am guessing the reason is that some Debian derivatives have an an installer that is easier to use and understand than Debian itself. #Debian #LMDE #Devuan #mxLinux

Look into using #Shotcut as a video editor on #linux_mint and #MXLinux

How many times must I tell #microsoft no? I have said NO several times before and it is still NO! After taxes are done I will upgrade this machine to #mxlinux

Sigh, the one model that has what I want and it isn't available. Another similar model from a different company, not available. Both are much more expensive compared to last year. I didn't buy then as we needed a new A/C, Furnace, hot water tank, washer, dryer and a fireplace removal. Now that I have the cash saved up... :( Personal preference is a mini machine to replace my laptop. Hooked into a UPS so I have several hours of backup power. I can then do my final backup on the Windows laptop and reimage to #mxlinux

@aeva@mastodon.gamedev.place Most Linux distros are capable of this, but some handle it better than others. I'd recommend #MXLinux , #Ubuntu or #LinuxMint
