Folks it is now ONE HOUR until #MONSTERDON the weekly monster movie watch party. If you want to avoid it, best set up a hashtag filter. If you'd like to join in, this week we're watching HERCULES IN NEW YORK (1970), notable for being Arnold Schwarzenegger's acting debut. It's apparently really awful :D The flick's available free with ads over on Tubi: https://tubitv.com/movies/321122/hercules-in-new-york Or you can download from Archive.org over here: https://archive.org/details/hercules.in.new.york.1969.1080p.bluray.x264.yify Just hit play at the top of the hour and toot along. See you there! #Movies #Cinema #Cinemastodon #horror #scifi #fantasy

Romy and Michele's High School Reunion was released in movie theaters 29 years ago today. Mira Sorvino and Lisa Kudrow provide a lot of laughs in this one. And Janeane Garofalo is just the icing on the cake. https://youtu.be/-DVPddRbP2I?si=1SDtGd2tGUPkuFkW #Movies #Cinemastodon #Cinema #Filmastodon

TOMORROW at 9pm eastern (that's 1am Monday UTC) it's #MONSTERDON the weekly monster movie watch party! Come watch a B-grade stinker with a bunch of nerds! This week we're watching HERCULES IN NEW YORK (1970)! Arnold Schwarzenegger's acting debut, the movie features Zeus sending Hercules to modern New York. Hilarity, needless to say, ensues. It's pretty awful, they even dubbed over Schwarzenegger's voice. Should be a blast :D The flick's available free with ads over on Tubi: https://tubitv.com/movies/321122/hercules-in-new-york Or you can download from Archive.org over here: https://archive.org/details/hercules.in.new.york.1969.1080p.bluray.x264.yify See you on Sunday! :D #Movies #Cinema #Cinemastodon #Horror #Scifi #Fantasy

After being reminded about Ice Pirates a few days ago, I now want some recommendations of other cult sci-fi, or forgotten gems of sci-fi, that should be checked out. So, any recommendations of personal favourites? #film #films #movies #Cinema #QuestionOfTheWeek #filmfilepod

Serious question from a hopeful man: Does anyone know where one can purchase DVDs or Blu-rays of Éric Rohmer's complete "Comedies and Proverbs" for the US market? Kino Lorber has a couple of them, but I can't find all six. Thanks in advance for the help. #Film #Cinema #Movies #France #French #FrenchCinema #Culture #Entertainment #Video

Hey #Movies #Cinema I feel like watching some #Iranian movies. I remember watching some very good stuff in the early aughts, that (if I recall correctly) was coming mainly out of the Kurdistan region of the country. Don't quote me. Then near the end of the aughts a thing happened that made me somewhat lose interest in "cinema" as a pastime. I don't wanna get too much into it, I can't pin it all on Gaspar Noe but he's a central culprit. But lately I've gotten back to enjoying it some, now and then. I don't necessarily just trust it, cause a Game Of Thrones will not lead with its moral nihilism in the promos, and people still wrapped in their desensitization cloaks will not understand my objections to watching these acts, and likely consider any strong reactions to them as "drama" or some such. It's not even the violence, it's the violence in its context. I think extreme violence can be entirely non-gratuitous, but an artist has to earn the right to use it, much like they won't let a new construction hire run the big tractor on his first day. It's okay if the recommendations are violent, violence is a daily character in that region these days. As long as the art is not morally nihilistic. Which is more of a Western thing, I'd say, in terms of video entertainment. I'm rambling now, cause I am here to get some movie recommendations for stuff that's come out of #Iran (surrounding region also acceptable, particularly if there's a #Kurd or especially #Parsi connection) in the last 10-15 years. Hit me, Fedi! (I'm gonna try to show up for #Monsterdon tonight too. I had fun the last time I remembered. Granted, it was only cause there were Daleks, but it was fun.)

Without dropping spoilers, is there a movie or TV show that has a scene that always makes you cry - not a weepy film, but a film that gets you weeping. For example, Wrath of Khan (The ship? Out of danger!), Buffy (I'm under your spell…), or Serenity (Leaf on the wind). Drop your picks and cryptic clues below. #film #films #movies #Cinema #QuestionOfTheWeek #filmfilepod
