Good morning everyone 🌞 I'm up early with the parrots today and have just put Ziggy in after a brief cuddle, and some biting, since this morning she has decided that my right hand offends her and has been attacking it. No idea what the poor hand has done to deserve this, but she's rightly miffed by it that's for sure. I often think that they should send us parrot people to the first encounter with an alien race. We're definitely the most experienced in alien behaviour that's for sure 😂 I finally managed to track down the missing yarn delivery that Royal Mail say I had asked to be left in my safe place ( I hadn't since we were home all day) which turned out to be stuffed behind a neighbour's pot plant on their back step, so I'll be able to make a start on the competition toy tomorrow as well as working on the latest crochet order. Today is co-op BG3 day though. Last week we had an absolute blast in the Mausoleum, figuring out puzzles and taking on, and defeating the Orthon, which was really tough - both Gale and Shadowheart were dead by the end and Ethera perilously close to it. Even Grognak was on low health and not a healing spell or potion between us. But we managed it in the end; Ethera using her flying ability to stay out of reach of the merregons and recasting Call Lighting and Grognak just battering the heck out of everything 😊 Looking forward to more adventures today! Good morning everyone ☀️ I am up early with the parrots today and happy not to have to rush to work again this morning ☺️ Ziggy has been seeing ghosts again today, constantly up and down my arm saying "It's okay" to herself over and over and growling at something only she can see. My attempt to ask her what was up was met with a hard nip so she's obviously upset about it all. 🥴 I reckon parrots are actually multidimensional beings, which explains a lot. Like the ghosts, the fact that you can look into their cages and they have disappeared despite there being no place really to hide. Even Toby, who is a large bird and who's cage isn't heavily decorated with toys, can just vanish from time to time. It would also explain their uncanny ability to unlock our phones, even though they have fingerprint locks on them, to the extent that I came through once to find that Ziggy was busy putting some weird plastic thing in my Amazon basket 😂 It would also explain how they are able to do exactly the opposite of what you say they will do just seconds after you say it. Multidimensional parrots. That's my theory anyway 😁 I received a new crochet order yesterday so I'll be working on that today. I did end up having to order in yarn for the competition toy as expected, so just waiting for that to arrive now before I can make a start on that one too. I will no doubt end up watching videos of people playing Stardew Valley again 😊 The photo below is a recent crochet order for a lovely lady here on Mastodon who has kindly ordered from me a couple of times now. Good morning Fine Fedi Folk 💕 I'm up early with the parrots again today and have just cleaned and fed them all. Toby is happily munching away - his favourite pastime - while Jadie had retreated to the shadows at the back of her cage to snooze a bit more. Ziggy is currently tucked up in my hand, grumbling away contentedly 🙂 Yesterday evening I watched her manoeuvring one of those plastic baby activity toys. It's at least five or six times her weight, twice her height and an awkward shape, and yet she managed to lift it up and push it off the couch no bother at all. The strength in that little dinosaur is really incredible. Makes me wonder just how strong the really big ones were. She's gone in now for her breakfast, so I am off to get coffee and relax with Stardew Valley for a bit. Plans thereafter are to prep for going back to work tomorrow by making sure I have all the parrot food prepared ahead of time and to work on the crochet order that came in this weekend. Good morning Fellow Travellers on Spaceship Earth 🌍 I am up early with the parrots again and currently being preened by Ziggy who asked me to go and fetch her meds mix, then promptly ignored the spoon and did her own thing 😊 She grumbles away while preening me, almost as if saying "Look at the state of you! I just did this last night too." I obviously get myself into an unpreened state overnight, which isn't acceptable to Zigs. She's now gone in for breakfast after finally taking her meds with a detour to hide down the side of the couch going "Tee hee hee" as she did so and then popping up with a "Ceek-a-boo!" Obvious pleased with the reaction she then demanded to "Come! Come!", but stopped eating and shouted at me until I made my coffee and came back. Satisfied, she is now happily eating and by the frequency of "Mmm" s and "Good!" s must be enjoying it 😁 Plans for today are either co-op or single campaign BG3 depending on whether Grant wants to play or if the lure of Cyberpunk is too much for him today. Good morning Fellow Travellers on the Galactic Spiral Arm 🌌 I'm up early with the parrots again this morning and it's a chilly one at -1 C after being a balmy 10 C yesterday. Ziggy is currently curled up in my hand having her head stroked and beak crunching away. She has been a lot more content the last couple of days. I think the raging hormones have settled down again for a bit. She's not going to be happy with me tomorrow though as we are off to the V-E-T again so she can have some more blood tests. We're turning it into a military operation by taking the other two as well for beak/nail trims and checkups. 🥴 She just demanded I take her to get her medication, but now we are back in the living room she is ignoring the spoon and preening me instead. This is the routine lately. Eventually she'll decide to take the mash and then demand to be taken to her cage for breakfast. I will wait patiently and finally be rewarded with a large mug of coffee like the good parrot slave I am 😂 Plans for today are some Parrot Kitchen and then working on the latest crochet order, which is almost done, but needs final tweaks. I'll probably end up watching more videos of people playing Stardew Valley 😁 Wee reminder that next Friday, the 10th, is the draw day for my latest competition , so make sure you enter before then for a chance to win a free custom crochet toy posted to anywhere in the world. Good morning everyone 🌞 I was supposed to sleep a bit longer this morning, but Grant has hurt his back - sciatica it looks like - so I got up and took over when I heard him groaning and yelping downstairs 😊 I have sciatica myself and I know it can be painful when it flares up. So, I'm sitting with Ziggy now, not fully awake yet, and contemplating the work day ahead. And, it's to be a warm one I believe after a zero degrees start. They are talking around 17-18 C for here! Quite a change, but I could believe it after we had sun, wind, rain, hail and snow on Sunday there 😊 Right, Ziggy is demanding "Come! Come!" and I need to get ready for work and have a very large coffee to wake up properly first! Remember, it's the last week to enter my latest competition to win a customer crochet toy as I'll be drawing the winner on Friday. Good morning everyone 🔆 It's Monday yet again, but this one comes with added holiday bonus 🎉 It's actually not seen as a holiday in Scotland by my work for some reason, but they have Saint Andrews day in November instead and we can swap that for today if we want to, so I did. I'm currently having a lovely wee cuddle with Ziggy, while listening to the air filters doing their thing and Toby doing his thing, which is munching away with great gusto 😊 The vet said he has lost weight and is now nice and trim (he was a bit overweight when we got him) which is good to hear given the amount he shovels in! Ziggy is now running up and down my arm making her laughing noises and singing "toot toot toot" ☺️ It's so good to see her so bright and cheerful, obviously feeling pretty good right now. Hopefully we now have the balance of the meds just right. Ah, I am now being informed it is time to "Come! Come!" so I'd best go get her medication sorted so she can have that and then go for her breakfast. No real plans for today so I may do a bit more single campaign BG3. Good morning everyone ☀️ I'm up early with the parrots and have just finished the morning food prep and cage cleaning session. Ziggy is cuddled up in my hand and all is quiet bar the noise of the air filters and Toby munching away 😊 Peaceful now anyway, but in a couple of hours chaos will erupt as we try to get all three of them in their travel cages in good time for a trip to the V-E-T . It's always a toss up when to start trying to get them sorted. Some days it can take a long time to persuade certain wee birds to go into their travel cages, and often it results in me just covering them up with a towel and bundling them in unceremoniously ☺️ Parrots are clever you see. They know full well that travel cages means V-E-T and even their crack cocaine dried papaya treats don't always work. We usually err on the side of caution and generally end up far too early, but it's better than arriving late in a panic. Toby is no bother though. We have the wooden air crate he flew over from South Africa in and I just pop him into that and we strap it next in the front seat next to Grant while I sit in the back between the two girls' cages. Toby has a travel cage, but it's too big to fit in the car if we take all of them so his air crate works a treat. Also picking Toby up and popping him into his box is painless, unlike the scramble to catch the girls 😊 So, it's Big Adventure Day as we tell the parrots. Some Lidl bimbling later too. Good morning you lovely lot 💕 I am up early with the parrots today and having a wee Ziggy cuddle before work. Last work day of the week today - yay! It will be crazy busy no doubt, but then I can rest. In the afternoon when Grant is at work and I have all three parrots to deal with Jadie doesn't come out of her cage. The offer is always there, but she prefers not to, so I pull her cage over to the couch where I sit with the other two. It means there's nothing at her back though and she doesn't like that so I put her cover on just over the top and a bit down the back to give her more security. I started putting the other two covers on too ready for when the go in, but now Toby has taken to going back to his cage, happily drinking water and chewing his paper roll. His door is open and he goes in and out as he pleases, but he also seems to prefer his man cave to sitting with me 😂 The java tree is still unused 😊 Ziggy is almost ready for meds so I'm off to sort that out and start my work day. Good morning everyone 🌞 I'm up early with the parrots today and have just settled down for a wee Ziggy cuddle after cleaning and feeding them all, in a bit of a rush as I woke up half an hour later than I should have, my internal clock all messed up after the non long lie yesterday. Ziggy has started greeting me with kiss noises in the morning after I lift her cover, so I must be doing some right 😊 I always get a good night kiss every evening when I put the cover down too. I must find some black thread and fix her cover though. It has a couple of rips in it which means she peeks out when she's supposed to be sleeping, and being such a bossy boots she always has a comment or two when I'm trying to settle Jadie down, generally of the "C'mon!", hurry up variety 😂 It's co-op BG3 day , but we're starting a new campaign today because my eldest grandson is joining Grant and I. He's back from Uni after having a wee operation and is recovering at home, so I thought it would be a nice distraction for him. Good morning Fellow Travellers on the Galactic Spiral Arm 🌌 I was supposed to have a long lie today, but after hearing lots of "Ouches!" from Grant downstairs as he was trying to give Ziggy her medication, I had to get up and sort her out. He says something spooked her as he tried to give it to her initially and then she just refused to take it after that. So, no long lie for me due to Ziggy seeing ghosts again 🥴 Mind you, Grant says he distinctly felt something brush his arm round about the same time. So spooky 😱 Once I have properly woken up with coffee - lots and lots of coffee - I will crochet again today. I did not watch ER yesterday after all, but ended up watching YouTube videos of people playing Stardew Valley again. My grandsons have taught me well 😂 Right! Ziggy has gone in to eat and my big coffee mug awaits, and probably some Stardew Valley while I'm at it 😊 Have a very lovely day, whatever you get up to 🤗 #GoodMorning #Parrots #Gaming #Crochet

Good morning everyone ☀️ I'm up early with the parrots again today and am currently being vigorously preened by Ziggy who will not put up with Mummy squirming and has just given me a quick nip on my ear to make me hold still. Ouch! 😊 Right, she's now gone in for breakfast so I can drag my weary self into work for the last manic session of the week. This one has been particularly busy, but we did move a whole enterprise system to a new platform without any issues so kudos to my excellent team for that one. Good morning everyone 🌞 I'm up early with the parrots today and have just put Ziggy in for breakfast after a brief cuddle session. Her latest thing in the morning now when I clean her cage is to sit on the perch nearest the door and go "Mmm Hmmm" as though inspecting my work. She'll do this a few times, then climb up to her high perch to play with toys while I do the other cages. I'm not sure if that means she's satisfied or not 😂 I'm watching Jadie muttering and hopping back and forth in place. She has moved her sleeping felt toy forward a bit and now can't seem to navigate to her flat perch to reach her fruit. Any other parrot would just work out a new path, or move the offending toy, but not Jadie. That's why we have to be careful that her rope boing that leads down to the lower levels where the food and water are is in the right position or Jadie would just sit and starve if she couldn't use it to navigate. The first few weeks we had her I had to hand feed her until I could work out the optimum pathway for her to reach her food and water 🤷🏻‍♀️ Toy has now been moved and Jadie is munching a cherry happily 🙂 The dentist reckons there's no infection around the loose tooth so he'll take it out for me in a couple of weeks. I will be glad to get rid of it I must admit. It will be the fourth tooth I have lost due to grinding my teeth. 🥴 Plans for today are to do some gaming. Good morning everyone ☀️ I am up early with the parrots today and am on duty all day as it is Grant's big half a century birthday today. He's planning to spend it playing the new Resident Evil game, which he downloaded last night. Ziggy is currently grumbling away in my hand. She's in a very playful mood at present, and was play fighting with me last night. She screeches like a mad bird and sounds like she's freaking out when she does so, like she's genuinely attacking me, and she does bite hard, though not to break the skin. But she rolls on her back, showing complete trust in me not to drop her as we tussle, with me going 'Argh!" and pretending to attack her back. Then, in the middle of all this noise and chaos she will suddenly go "Ceek-a-boo!"and start "Tee hee hee" ing and we both end up laughing away 😊 Plans for today are to look after Grant and take care of everything so he can just enjoy his birthday and game to his hearts content. He got Steam vouchers from me again, so will be able to buy another couple of games if he wants to later, but for today he's like a kid at Christmas about his new horror game 😊 Have a lovely day, whatever you get up to 🤗 #GoodMorning #Parrots #Ziggy #Gaming

Good morning everyone 🌻 I am up early with the parrots again today. I was supposed to have a long lie, but I need to keep an eye on Ziggy as we had another occurrence of liquid coming out of her nares again yesterday after she had eaten breakfast. I sat with her and did three steam treatments, which luckily helped clear up her breathing. Phoned the vet and asked if I could up the dosage of her diaretic to the original dose, which she agreed we could do, with a review and more bloods in a couple of weeks. I hope that's going to be enough to keep her stable for now. She's in good spirits despite all of this though and is her usual cheeky self, which I am very grateful for. She's currently curled up under my chin, giving me neck shingles and nipping me if I dare try and squirm 😊 As long as she is a bossy boots I am happy. I didn't end up doing much yesterday other than looking after Zigs, but at least I am on leave and didn't have to try and juggle her needs and work. To be honest though, work would have lost out in that fight 🙂 Today I am going with Grant to a job interview. He's very nervous about it and wants me to be his navigator so he doesn't panic trying to get there. I'll just sit in the car with my Switch and wait for him. Good morning Fine Fedi Folk 💕 I am up early with the parrots again today and was greeted by a loud and cheerful "Good Moo!" from Ziggy as I entered the room, so my day has been made already 😊 Jadie meanwhile was keen to tell me about a dream or something and was babbling away quite the thing as I cleaned their cages. She has this phrase that sounds like "Babushka!" and she always says it in a very plaintive manner. So she'll babble away and then say "Babushka!" as though to say , "but what can you do eh?" 😊 No real plans for today so I'll see where the day takes me after a coffee or two. I may game or crochet. I may even get up the energy to clean out the sideboard now that I have some packing material. I think the first two are stronger contenders for my time though! I also need to update my website again at some point soon. I usually save up a bunch of photos and do it all in a day, so I might leave that one until the weekend. I must take my email address back off there too. I put it up in case people wanted to contact me for custom toys, but all I get is spam from people (and more increasingly bots) who want to help me redesign my site or get it higher in the rankings, like I'm some web entrepreneur 😂 Have a very lovely day, whatever you get up to 🤗 #GoodMorning #Parrots

Good morning you lovely lot 💕 It is Monday yet again, but I am on leave this week, so happy days 🎉 I've just put Ziggy in for breakfast after the briefest of cuddles and a quick one minute medication session. I have the amount of feast food needed to give her the meds down to a tiny blob now and she takes it like a pro 😊 I was going to move the new java tree that has been sitting in the hallway for two weeks - outside the living room door so they see every day - in to the living room today, but we are going to Grant's Mum's as it is her birthday, so that will need to wait until tomorrow. I am hoping we don't have too much panic, but we'll see. Parrots really, really don't like new things just thrust upon them. So, plans are to play a wee bit of Stardew Valley on my Switch for an hour or two and then go out. I must admit I started from scratch yet again 😂 I am still keeping my later game farm as I still have loads to do, but I really fancied trying a beach farm as I know it's trickier with the sprinklers not working on sandy soil. Good morning my Fine Fedi Friends 💕 I'm up late today after a nice long lie in which I had, as usual, bonkers dreams. This time for some reason the company HR department had decided to direct people to my bedroom as a new waiting room, while I was still in bed mind you! Two of my colleagues ran into the room to tell me they had found a dead bird, so I grabbed Ziggy, who also happened to be there and went to have a look. There were feathers scattered around like you see when a bird has been killed by a hawk or a cat, but also creepy serial killer notes all over the place 🤷🏻‍♀️ Detective Ziggy and I were on the case when I woke up 😂 At the moment she is chatting away to me, while chewing on what looks like a bit of apricot. I've never seen a parrot eat with so much relish as our Zigs 😊 I had a good time playing some single campaign BG3 yesterday again. Celeste and her crew took on the lava monster, the Guardian of the Forge and a bunch of Githyanki at the mountain pass. That last one was tough as it was a sorcerer, Gale, Astarion and Karlach up against a bunch of warriors, but we made it without anyone dying 😊 Plans for today are to do some more cupboard cleaning. I have a sideboard in the dining room which hasn't been tidied in about ten years and it's groaning with stuff we no longer use that could go to charity.
