The power of open source: I've been using the official Mastodon iOS app ever since I joined because I need no feature the alternatives offer.
But the most recent version completely broke the image viewer, with no fix in sight (there is now an issue at least https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon-ios/issues/1546)
It took me about 2 hours and a few rounds with Copilot to check out the code, revert to a previous version, make it compile and install on my iPhone (should have taken 5 minutes but I'm no iOS dev).
