"Personalist regimes always suffer from this, but then on top of that we have a personalist regime built on a man who is not just ignorant and malign, he is properly non compos mentis. Pretending he's capable of holding public office and giving orders at all is a kind of mass delusion." ~ Andy Craig #Trump #Iran #war #madness #dementia #insanity #authoritarianism #strongman /1 https://bsky.app/profile/andycraig.bsky.social/post/3mgwt7hgxnk25

"Donald Trump is lost in his fog of war. ... The belief that coherent sense can be made out of Trump’s shuffling words is a weakness of the rational mind that refuses to accept the impulses of the inveterate demagogue for what they are." ~ Sidney Blumenthal #Trump #Iran #war #madness #dementia #insanity #authoritarianism #strongman /2 https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/mar/14/trump-iran-vietnam

"'Mr President,' said a reporter. 'You’ve said the war is "very complete" but your defence secretary says, "This is just the beginning". So which is it?' Donald Trump’s eyes darted left and right then down. 'Well, I think you could say both,' he parried." ~ David Smith #Trump #Iran #war #madness #dementia #insanity #authoritarianism #strongman /4 https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/mar/14/trump-iran-war-chaos

"The confusing answer at a press conference in Doral, Florida this week did not befit a wartime leader armed with stirring rhetoric and a lucid plan. ... as the conflict with Iran enters its third week, impacting nearly every corner of the Middle East and causing economic tremors around the world, Trump has emerged as America’s commander-in-chaos." #Trump #Iran #war #madness #dementia #insanity #authoritarianism #strongman /5

"The picture of the shoes did it for me. Just look at this group of clowns. They’re clowns performing for a ringmaster. Supposedly Trump would just guess their shoe sizes. And if he guessed the wrong size, they didn’t have enough courage to actually get a pair of shoes that fit. They’re wearing shoes because Trump guessed the wrong size. That is a sign of mental illness, I think." ~ Phillips O'Brien #Trump #Iran #war #madness #dementia #insanity #strongman /6 https://paulkrugman.substack.com/p/phillips-obrien-on-iran

"Wars are not decided by social media posts or gut feelings. They are decided by logistics, strategy, alliances, and political resolve. Right now, the world is watching a conflict expand across multiple regions while the person in charge of the United States is posting fantasies about imaginary naval coalitions and claiming total victory over an enemy that is clearly still fighting." ~ Ben Meiselas #Trump #Iran #war #madness #dementia #insanity #strongman /16 https://www.meidasplus.com/p/important-saturday-news-updates-31425

I recently discovered a fascinating and terrifying project: The Caretaker - "Everywhere At The End Of Time". It’s a 6.5-hour audio simulation of a mind breaking down from dementia. It starts with clear 1920s ballroom music. But stage by stage, the memory "corrupts", turning into dark noise and emptiness. I highly recommend listening the full 6:30 hours to fully dive into this state (link below). Or listen album by album: try to memorize the clean melodies in Stage 1 so you can actually feel the pain when they break down later. It is a very heavy experience. Full compilation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJWksPWDKOc Also can be found on Apple Music - https://music.apple.com/artist/the-caretaker/1716871757?l=en-GB #Psychology #Dementia #Ambient #Music #Health

As Ron Filipkowski reports, "Trump made another batshit crazy Sat night post on Truth Social: 'Working with the fantastic governor of Louisiana, Jeff Landry, we are going to send a great hospital boat to Greenland to take care of the many people who are sick, and not being taken care of there. It’s on the way!!!'" #Trump #dementia #Greenland /1 https://www.meidasplus.com/p/this-weekend-in-politics-bulletin-17d

Does this mean I'm safe? "Reading and writing can lower dementia risk by almost 40%, study finds Cognitive health in later life is ‘strongly influenced’ by lifelong exposure to intellectually stimulating environments, say researchers" I didn't actually learn another language but was taught one for 5 years - in a very not-dyslexia friendly method. But reading lots of books and writing loads, definitely. Of course, not having it run in the family helps. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2026/feb/11/reading-writing-lower-dementia-risk-study-finds #Research #Dementia

@cstross@wandering.shop In all seriousness, my father has #dementia as well, and he no longer has any sense of time.

Things that happened DECADES ago just happened “recently” in his mind (like losing the 2020 election is for T) and he obsesses about it (also like T.)

He makes stuff up (not actually “lying”) to fill in the gaps in his memory, and can be a quite paranoid (everybody is out to do him harm.)

There is NO question in my mind #OrangeJuliusCaesar has dementia.

Oh shit, I just realised that every time Trump is talking about countries "emptying their mental institutions and sending them over here", he's talking about asylum seekers. The orange moron doesn't understand the difference between political asylum and a mental asylum. It's hard to fathom how stupid that blob of rotting lard is. #Trump #USPol #Venezuela #Politics #Dementia #USA

A new study suggests that #dementia may be driven in part by faulty blood flow in the brain. Researchers found that losing a key lipid causes blood vessels to become overactive, disrupting circulation and starving brain tissue. When the missing molecule was restored, normal blood flow returned. This discovery opens the door to new treatments aimed at fixing vascular problems in dementia. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2025/12/251225031247.htm
