The European Union allows some foreign producers to use the name "prosecco" for wine and "parmesan" for cheese. The signing of a new trade agreement between the European Union and Australia took place during a visit to Canberra and Sydney by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The text provides for the removal of both European and Australian tariffs on many agricultural products... #TheEuropeanUnion #theEuropeanUnion #Australia #Canberra #Sydney #EuropeanCommission #UrsulavonderLeyen #European #Australian https://www.today.it/europa/economia/unione-europea-australia-vino-prosecco-parmesan-parmigiano.html

What the fuck? We have seemingly replaced one dodgy bureaucrat with another! "Dr [Margot] McNeill resigned from TAFE NSW, where she was chief product and quality officer, in May last year, and was announced as the new CIT chief executive in June." The position in Canberra was vacant after the institute's former chief executive, Leanne Cover, was found to have engaged in serious corrupt conduct by the ACT Integrity Commission.  ... That investigation concluded late last year, finding that Dr McNeill had breached TAFE NSW's code of conduct, and that her employment file would be updated to reflect a "termination" in place of a resignation." #Canberra https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-03-19/cit-unaware-of-misconduct-investigation-into-ceo-chair-says/106472468

I've left out some snacks for the Canberra Reindeers when Canberra Claus comes visiting this evening. Hopefully lots of good things will come to all the nice Canberrans, and all the naughty ones will have learnt their lesson. #CanberraDay #Canberra

I have been hot ballooning only once, for my 30th birthday... though delays meant it occurred a few weeks later. It was great, and the sights were amazing. Also, we collided mid-air with another balloon over the paddock that would later become Crace. I occasionally think about that collision. Anyway, hot air balloons are still great in my books. #Canberra

Top of the next hill and there are 3 up here. Not a great photo, but proof that ‘Operation I Might Visit Some Kangaroos Tomorrow Morning’ was a success. Also, hello Crace! #Canberra

Canberra: Police seize art posters depicting Trump, Putin and Netanyahu in Nazi uniforms under hate speech law "The posters, by protest artist group Grow Up Art, depicted various world leaders including the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu; the Russian president, Vladimir Putin; and the US president, Donald Trump, in Nazi uniforms. In a statement, ACT policing confirmed it had declared the cafe a crime scene." https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2026/feb/19/police-seize-art-posters-depicting-trump-putin-and-netanyahu-in-nazi-uniforms-from-canberra-bar-ntwnfb #Canberra #FreeSpeech
