looking at a 300km bike ride to accustom my brain to 15+ hours of pedalling, before Chase The Sun in June (another 300km event). The nearest permanent audax route starts from Poole, 30 mins away by train. I can either train to Poole and start at 2330, first five hours in the dark, or I can start at 0700, and risk not returning in time to catch the last train home. 🤔 #BikeNitePQ what would you do? ("stay at home" doesn't count) @ascentale@sfba.social (BikeNite: outsourcing thinking for myself, while building a sense of community 😃)

@ascentale@sfba.social #BikeNitePQ please could you share images of

  • women cycling, late 19th century, early 20th century, when women cycling was A Big Deal*, including but not limited to advertisements and patronising satirical cartoons

  • press cuttings about women cycling

  • contemporary stuff showing bicycles are still a tool of independence (Afghan women for example)

  • even more so than today

Thanks. I got a message from Roach Minor earlier this week, they have just learned that the bicycle played a big part in women’s independence and I think it would be fun to deluge them in examples.

Yes, I could do all the research myself, but I know you’ll all have fun with it, and asking you to do unpaid work builds our sense of community. 😃

@Trailanderror@scicomm.xyz Cyclist. Particularly a fair-weather cyclist, riding for enjoyment, the occasional errand, exercise, and enjoyment. Mostly enjoyment. I’ll put in a plug for #BikeNite, which refreshes every Friday p.m. This kind of question (and all things bicycle) is the vibe. @ascentale@sfba.social curates potential questions using the hashtag #BikeNitePQ Ciao

Hypothetically, were I employed, could I book my time getting a bike fit to "medical time off - physio?" 😃 (this is not a #BikeNitePQ 😃) #cycling #BikeToot #velophant

@ascentale@sfba.social @bikenite@fedigroups.socia #bikenitepq PQ) What do you hope to change about how, where and why you ride a bike? Already achieved cycling nirvana? Or looking to take a step on the ladder of pedaling enlightenment? (I can't decide if we've had this one before or not, but if we haven't...)
