"Nebraska is racing to implement Medicaid work requirements by May 1 — eight months before the national deadline set by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed by Congress last summer. And not only is the state first out of the gate, its government plans to do it without hiring any additional staff..." https://www.politico.com/news/2026/04/14/medicaid-nebraska-work-requirements-expansion-00869387 #healthcare #medicaid #ACA #obamacare #insurance #CMS #disabilities #RuralHealth #poverty #nebraska

"But the state Department of Public Health and Human Services postponed adding doula services to its Medicaid program in late March, citing a budget shortfall driven in part by higher-than-expected Medicaid costs." https://kffhealthnews.org/news/article/doula-care-indigenous-health-medicaid-cuts-montana-tribe/ #healthcare #medicaid #ReproHealth #ReproJustice #pregnancy #doulas #RuralHealth #NativeAmerican #Indigenous #Cheyenne #CostsOfCare

"Last August, as part of the federal government’s crackdown on people in the country illegally, the Trump administration sent states the names of hundreds of thousands of Medicaid enrollees with orders to determine whether they were ineligible based on immigration status. But seven months later, findings from five states shared with KFF Health News show that the reviews have uncovered little evidence of a widespread problem." https://kffhealthnews.org/news/article/medicaid-undocumented-enrollees-review-few-violators/ #medicaid #HHS #CMS #immigration #USpol

"Deliberately reducing a person’s income and savings to qualify for Medicaid can sound daunting. But without planning, the high cost of long-term care can quickly drain savings anyway. Assisted living and nursing home care can cost thousands of dollars a month, often forcing families to exhaust their resources before qualifying for assistance." https://apnews.com/article/medicaid-spend-down-nursing-home-care-costs-2295b93a42ecd32ea16fa9042e4c28c6 #healthcare #medicaid #medicare #NursingHome #SkilledNursing #HomeHealth #aging #PersonalFinance

Private Equity bros that I have complained about after they purchased the large medical practice that has my PCP, that they have sinced gutted, de-staffed, pulled all the money out of, polluted with call centers and Automated help, and are killing, just sent a referral for care that I do not need that, have not requested that they get a financial cut from, that was digitally signed by my doctor, and he was not aware of, nor requested or approved, and we both are pissed now. A year or so ago, they did this shit with the mail order colon cancer testing kits that is not recommended for me because I have had polyps removed regularly since I was a teen because colon cancer runs deep in the family, and I get regular, advanced colon cancer screenings. They ordered them for every patient in their large, multi-state practice... This time from an LLC that the investment bros own. This is the real #Medicare #Medicaid #HealthInsurance fraud that goes on.

"Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) Friday secured a Senate vote on his amendment to the government funding package to repeal the $75 billion funding increase for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) — originally included in Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” (OBBB). The amendment would use those savings to reverse #Medicaid cuts in the OBBB, preventing 700,000 Americans from losing their health care.”
