Report: Netherlands, Iceland join genocide case against Israel
The case was brought by South Africa in Dec 2023 at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza.
18 countries have now joined the case: Colombia, Libya, Mexico, Palestine, Spain, Turkey, Chile, the Maldives, Bolivia, Ireland, Cuba, Belize, Brazil, the Comoros, Belgium & Paraguay.

#Iceland and the #Netherlands filed declarations of intervention on 11 March 2026 under Article 63 of the #ICJ Statute in South Africa’s genocide case against Israel, seeking to interpret the Genocide Convention in light of Israel’s Gaza campaign; they are among more than 50 interventions (including 18 by states) that support the view Israel’s actions in #Gaza (mass killing, starvation, forced displacement and widespread infrastructure destruction) amount to genocide.
