One thing that connects #GenX with younger generations is preparing for crazy shit to happen at schools. We did "duck and cover" drills when I was a very little kid, to "protect" us from the Soviet nuclear menace. And ever since Columbine, the millennials and others have had to do lockdown drills. #GenZ #GenA #millenial

A client was grousing about growing up in the 1970s and how much stuff has changed. He was about 7 years older than me. "Remember watching moon shots, dude," I asked. His face lit up. Our families both had us watch the Apollo missions land on the moon on live television, back in the day. "That was some shit, bro," he said. We fist-bumped. #genx #genjones #nasa

A guy at work a little older than me did a riff off of the title of the movie Big Trouble In Little China as a joke to some younger guys. They looked confused. I said aren’t they remaking that movie? The young guys said what is Big Trouble In Little China? My hip spontaneously went bad. #GenX

When my now-25 (about to turn 26)-year old was still a preschooler, the school system sent home a form asking us to identify the native language spoken at home. I wrote, "Sarcasm." #GenX

I ended up rolling down Hawthorne this afternoon, and it's weird the things that I notice; for instance the block where the AYH hostel was is now a 5-over-1 apartment building. And most of the businesses on Hawthorne have rotated except Fred Meyer and McMenamins. The days are slow but the years are quick. #pdx #genx

I've been here since the 2022 Great Twitter Exodus, and I've apparently never posted an #introduction, so… I'm a #GenX techie who's lived in #Boston since the late 80's. My 15 minutes of fame were being fired by #DOGE from #USDS early in 2025 and sounding the alarm in every media outlet that'd listen since nobody else was doing it. I'm not a fan of limelight, so I stopped when others took up the baton. My politics are aggressively progressive and antifascist, and I post about them a lot. (1/2)
